- I think you must be talking about a heat vent on the floor. I have one in an upstairs bedroom and had to have the carpeting cut around it when I re-did the room. The l heat vent is 12 inches square. The workers did a great job with the new carpet and the vent does not look out of place.

- I don't own one, but they appear to be designed for hard flooring such as tile and linoleum. There's only a cloth at the bottom where the steam passes through. I think you'd really be struggling trying to use one on carpet. A better alternative would be a carpet cleaner, Bissell and Hoover are both good brands. Expect to pay $150-300 and up. But for a budget, I love the Little Green Machine by Bissell which is much smaller. Don't try to clean an entire carpeted area with it or you'll be exhausted! But it's great for cleaning upholstery and for picking up spills on carpet, and doesn't take up a lot of storage space. Costs around $100 and you can get it at WalMart and many other retailers. Then if you need to do your whole carpet, you can rent an extractor for around $25 (check with your local supermarket, they probably rent Rug Doctor, etc.). You can get the job done in a day and not have a bulky machine taking up valuable closet space the rest of the year.

- Normally, carpet installers will use a carpet stretcher to stretch the carpet over the tack strips. The lease expensive option is to try to stretch the carpet by hand and then push it down onto the tack strip. Careful not to stick yourself. The tack strip does not need to be replaced as long as it is still securely attached to the floor. You could also use a staple gun and staple the edge of the carpet down (past the tack strip). A more expensive option is to rent a carpet stretcher at home depot or buy a knee kicker ($80) that you can use to stretch the carpet back in place. I dont think it's necessary though.

- Follow these steps to remove blood stains from Carpet/Synthetic, Carpet/Wool, or Foam Rubber: Mix 1 teaspoon of a mild, non-alkali detergent with 1/2 pint lukewarm water. Add a small amount to the stain and blot the liquid. Do not force the stain further into the fibers. Continue blotting until no more stain is removed. If stain remains, add 1 tablespoon ammonia to 1 cup water (do not use on wool), sponge stain, and blot liquid. Continue until no more stain is removed. Place an absorbent pad over the damp area and weight it down. When no more liquid is drawn out, remove the pad and allow it to air dry thoroughly.

- toss them, but let the owner know first. if it's in the rugs, it's probably in the carpet padding, too. request that they are replaced.

- i have given up on rugging my pony becuase she rips them so much! native breed and she's unclipped so she really doesn't need it anyway. a horse's own coat is much better than a rug so if they're not excessivly clipped they're probably okay. if not, decathalon! ?15 turn out rug, hasn't ripped, does the job totally fine! okay it wont last forever but for now, why not. horsewear ireland are good though. bit more costly but they're really nice rugs. if you;re anything like me before long you'll have a rug for every occasion. headcoller, oh goodness, i swear they breed i have so many, infact I think there's one under my feet now. oh yes there is and it's a horsewear ireland one. i've lost count of how many i have, cheap ones do the job fine, cost about ?5, leadropes are only a few quid and i buy them impulsivly.
