- Check the backside of the wool rug for instructions, you'll find them on a sticky tag in the corner. Here you should be able to locate an 800 phone number. Call this number and ask for advice. For your own information, wool is cleaned with lukewarm water and a very gentle low PH soap. One of my customers brought me a $500.00 dollar wool area rug that smelled like burnt plastic. I cleaned it and aired it out for several weeks. It still smells. The 800 number in this case was of no use, as the manufacturer had no idea what was going on. If your rug still smells after a couple of weeks, take it back to the store and ask for a refund. Should let you know, in case you have a dog in the house, that they sometimes sense a competitive situation and mark the rug with urine. They will do this numerous times, not realizing the animal was a sheep. Keep it clean if you want to return it.

- Doing a room that size , you ll need a pc of carpet at least 12x28 to cover that area because of seaming. You may need more if there is a pattern . This is done with a 1/4 turn to make the least amount of carpet and some carpets you can t do that. 12x28 is 336 s/f or 37.333 s/y. But carpet is actually sold by the s/f and not s/y. Can be advertised on a sale tag as s/y but MUST be sold per s/f. But given those numbers, it ll cost 933.33$ plus pad and installation if that isn t an installed price. - dogs respond to high pitched heavier voices. use a heavy voice to yell at the dog WEN YOU SEE HIM DOING IT. you have to catch him in the act yell extremely loud and strong. put his face about an inch away from the pee before u clean it up then smack his noise a couple times then put him in his cage. keep doing it wenever he trys itll take time to train him but itll work btw to get pee outta a rug pour water on the area that got peed on and then use paper towls by prsssing them down hard on the water until it comes out. the water will take the pee out with it and get rid of the pee and the smell
- Q: So I have this cheap $20 rug from walmart thats teal. I did away with it for a while but now that I want my room redone, I want a black rug to go in front of a futon. How would I go about dyeing this rug instead of buying a new one and leaving this one to collect dust? It has a plastic wired bottom to hold the rug together and to act slip resistant. Would dyeing it affect it?
- Whether dyeing would work depends on what fibre it's made of. If it's wool or cotton, it would dye quite well with ordinary dyes, though it might present a few difficulties since dyes usually call for being heated, and a lot of rinsing after. If it's a synthetic fibre, which it very likely is, it might not dye at all because synthetics don't absorb dye very well, if at all. If they do, they usually require processes that would be very difficult to achieve with a rug, such as heating the dye bath with the item in it. All in all, it's probably not worth even trying. Find a cheap black rug to buy.

- These rugs may have been designed for prayer but they are not blessed or consecrated or anything like that and for the most part serve a utilitarian purpose. The people who use them will kneel and prostrate on them, so I don't think they will be kneeling on top of sacred images. If the rug has some history or is of an especially ornate design, then it probably won't be cheap enough for him to send of to a child as a plaything. I think he should keep sending these souvenirs, the children will enjoy them and maybe get a glimpse of another culture. If he decides to buy a Koran then he should treat that with respect.
