Q:If you stood in a pool of wet cement up to your shoulders, would you be crushed as the cement dried or would it be molded around you?
well neither actually, but it would be unpleasant and you'd probably still die, being buried to your shoulders in wet sand would have the same effect... each time you exhaled and your chest depressed the cement would take up the space, as it slowly dried the space you were in would become smaller and smaller and by the time it dried the space you were in would be so tight you wouldn't have room for your chest to expand when inhaling and you would suffocate. I guess you could survive if you kept your hands in front of you to keep room open for your chest expansions.
Q:Is a Cemented or Uncemented Prosthesis Better?
The response to this differs for various people. Because each person’s condition is exclusive, the physician and also you must weigh the pros and cons. Cemented substitutes tend to be more commonly used for older, less active people and individuals with weak bones, for example individuals who've brittle bones, while uncemented substitutes tend to be more commonly used for more youthful, more active people. Research has shown that cemented and uncemented prostheses have comparable rates of success. Studies also indicate that if you want one more hip replacement, or revision, the rates of success for cemented and uncemented prostheses are comparable. However, more lengthy-term data can be found in the U . s . States for stylish substitutes with cemented prostheses, because doctors have used them here because the late sixties, whereas uncemented prostheses weren't introduced before the late seventies. The main drawback to an uncemented prosthesis may be the extended recovery period. Since it requires a very long time for that natural bone to develop and fix towards the prosthesis, you aren't uncemented substitutes must limit activities for approximately 3 several weeks to safeguard the stylish joint. Also, it's more prevalent for somebody by having an uncemented prosthesis to see leg discomfort within the several weeks following a surgery, as the bone keeps growing in to the prosthesis.
Q:I need a 20 ft by 16 ft concrete pad for a pavilion. Should I use a concrete truck or quikrete? Costs are a factor.
In my area (Atlanta, GA) a cubic yard of concrete delivered by truck is ~ $165 + tax. If you order less than 6 yd3, there is a delivery fee of $125. My choice was to buy a used concrete mixer (6 cubic feet) for $200 from Craigslist, get the Portland cement, sand, and gravel, and mix it, 6 cubic yards. I did it in one day by my self. Then I sold the mixer back on Craigslist for $150.
Q:I'm building a bike stand out of PVC pipe and I'm using CPVC cement... I've heard that you can use CPVC cement on both CPVC and PVC (since CPVC is harder to melt), but not PVC cement on CPVC pipe.Ideas?
Your just fine using CPVC cement on PVC, especially on a bike stand. The only time it would make a diiference is when you are actually using it for water pressure. CPVC is used for water supply, under pressure, to your faucets and so on. It's formulated for drinking water where as PVC is not, either way, for what your doing, either cement would work...
Q:Im trying to level my floor with self levelling cement. I know its supposed to be runny but i may have put too much water on it. Unfortunately i already dumped it on the floor. Will it eventually dry up.
it will crumble, there's a fine line the level-quikor whatever brand, should be mixed to resemble a pancake batter like consistency, it finds its own level.
Q:What should I do about the corners? Do they require cement pillars? The garage is about 25' by 20'. What brand or type of cement is recoommended. Here in Texas, the ground shifts because of the high clay content. A car or SUV may be parked on the cement.
dig down 6 inches and fill with cement have fun
Q:I have been going to this dentist who lately doesn't seem to be in the office that much. This last visit was in order to have my temporary crown removed and have the permanent one put in. It turned out that he was out of town on vacation. The two dental assistants in the office did the work with one permanently cementing it in. I live in the state of Florida, and I'm wondering if this was legal for a dental assistant to do this. I am rather concerned as to whether it was adjusted properly. Also, I'm having some twinges in that area of my mouth but hoping they will settle down. Wondering if anyone knows for sure whether a dental assistant is allowed to do this in Florida. I don't really want to go back to this dentist because he also doesn't followup on things that well and, like I said, is gone so much. Would appreciate any info. Thanks
In some states, they can. I do not know the particulars for FL, but I doubt they could do this without the dentist being present in the office. I know that in PA, where they are about as liberal as any state, the dentist has to be present to verify that the crown fits properly and that the bite is adjusted properly. As assistant can not do this.
Q:Is there a difference between cement and concrete?
The difference between concrete and cement is that concrete contains cement plus sand and gravel. It is the cement that binds the sand and gravel or crushed rock together to form what we call concrete. Concrete then, is more than just cement.
Q:it is so uncomfortable to chew!
I had that too.. I had it for a little over a year (and I had braces for 2 1/2 years). They took it out when they added another bracket to the very last teeth. That cement is there to keep your top teeth from biting on the bottom brackets. You'll get used to it.
Q:I am trying to demo my shower to the studs. Tile is laid over durock cement wall. Floor tiles came right up but the tile on the durock is difficult to remove and I'm wondering how I'm going to remove the durock too. Thanks.
Getting a crow bar between the stud and cement board and start at it. You can just pull the nails right thru the durock. Whole sheets can come off. BEWARE... when they do they are very heavy and can be hard to handle. Start w/ the two end walls , since they are supposed to be put up after the back wall.. Just starting to smash the walls w/ a hammer can crack dry wall and seams or corners in adjacent rooms. Some care must be taken. Cover tub as much as possible since tiles will fall off with the flexing of the board as you remove it. GL
