- Q:My cat has torn up a couple of sections of the carpet in my apartment. I went to Lowe's hardware and they have the carpet I need in stock. However, I keep getting the runaround about what I need and what I need to know to get what I need. I was told that I need to find out how my carpets are installed. I don't want to ask the apartment people because they will charge me a ridiculous amount of money to fix the situation. I have Shag carpeting in my apartment. I do not know how it's laid onto the floor. Is there a way that I can find that out? Also, is there anything else that I need to know? I haven't found any help regarding this except getting the runaround. Please help a girl out! :)
- you can call a carpet place to send a guy out. they have to cut out the section, then sew the carpet together or use tape. good luck buddy
- Q:has any one had them out to clean your carpet and if so is it worth the money? give me some stories good or bad about them
- Used them many times and they are very reasonably priced. If you aren't moving your furniture (which we didn't) make sure they put everything up on blocks so as not to stain the carpets until they dry. It's a normal procedure for them but they can mess up and your wood or fabric that touches the wet carpet will stain it. When they are done your carpets should only be damp and not wet to the touch. If they are wet don't let them leave until the carpets are only damp. Stanley Steemer is a franchise operation so not all franchises are great. I use them for a whole house cleaning but use my own steam cleaner much more often. I have saved a lot of money by owning my own steam cleaning machine which is a Bissell. I can keep up on carpet cleaning routinely as opposed to waiting until the carpets are in dire need. I would recommend after you use Stanley to buy your own cleaner.
- Q:The carpet guy came to our house and measured our room out the other day, and said to put the baseboards in after. I read on a lot of sites to do the base boards first. Is the carpet company asking us to do it this way so its easier for them? Should we put baseboards in first even though they say not to?
- If your doing newly painted base boards( you don t say) they may have trying to avoid scratching freshly painted boards or a newly urethaned base.. Since paint wont thoroughly cure for a month, even a careful installer can scratch baseboards.The backing on new anti static carpets can be worse than sandpaper. I m not defending them,but showing you a point from a store owner/installer s view. I agree that baseboards should be installed 1st with a small gap under them so carpet can be tucked in and cut. - I don't think a purl stitch rug is a standard thing that would have a video. It sounds like a design made specifically for that book. The thing is, there is no need to purl a whole rug when it is generally easier to knit than to purl, and a purl is just the back side of a knit stitch. So you could knit the whole thing in whatever shape you like and just turn it over to have a purl stitch rug.
