The pumps are designed for economical&trouble-free operation in handling solids-laden liquids and slurries, it handle up to 76.2mm spherical solids. Pumps feature a large volute design which allows them to re-prime automatically in a completely open system without the need of suction or discharge check valves. And this is workable with the pump only partially filled with liquid and completely dry suction line.Standard Self-Priming pump units are available for Solids Handling or Clear Liquid service. Typical mounting configurations are Engine Driven for Skid or Trailer Mounted packages and Frame Mounted Electric Driven.  Pumps also are available in a variety of different metallurgies.

Most toilets do not have pumps, Yours probably has a fluid master acting like a float , so water can only get so high in the tank, and a flapper - a rubber piece with a chain connecting to a handle rod. Remove the tank lid, see if the flapper goes up and down with the handle( the piece you push), this rubber piece should cover the hole completely to stop the water from going down any more. If it does not go down all the way, then it is the problem. Hope this helps.
Q:Recently my ford aerostar van started pouring water from the weephole of the waterpump and all my oil was just disappearing leaving just foam on the dipstick...we drained what oil was in it and there was antifreeze in the oil so we figured it was a blown head but it it possible for antifreeze to leak into the oil due to a bad waterpump?
It is both. The water pouring from the weephole is a sign the waterpump went out on you. This probably caused the engine to overheat and blow the head gasket (if not crack the head as well.) Any time you have a blown head gasket you need to know what caused it to happen. A head gasket doesn't get blown for no reason, it is caused by overheating. Knowing what caused the overheating, in this case the water pump, is important because if you just fix the head gasket, it will happen again because you didn't fix the overheating problem.
Q:my water pump went bad on my 1997 chevy cavalier, causing it to leak all the coolant it had in the system. i put water in it til i could get new water pump. changed out water pump. attempted getting air out of system. put more concentrated coolant in system than i did water. bad guessing on my part. ran car around block 5 times. it was fine. this morning on the way to work, it started overheating again. my thoughts : more air in system that's not coming out? thermostat REALLY went bad at same time as water pump???? overheating all because of a little too much coolant??? for some crazy reason, my system needs to be suddenly flushed? Q:My house uses a pump that draws well water. With a family of four, I had never had a problem running out of water, even through 4 morning showers. Recently however, I have started running low and sometimes even run dry of water, although it’s now just me and my wife living at home. The pump is only a couple of years old. I don’t know if it has a bladder, but I think it does. It’s a Wel-Trol brand. I’ve checked the pressure with a tire gauge and it holds at 30 psi. Also, it seems the cut in and out switch has a mind of its own. It especially would continue to run, even though the pressure hit cut-off level. Any ideas or suggestions?Thanks
Could be the pressure switch (cut in and out switch). It is designed to start the pump at a certain low pressure and stop the pump at a desired high pressure. If it is allowing the pump to run past the high pressure limit, it may also not be kicking in the pump at the low pressure.

CLR soak. Remove the calcium and lime from the tap water use. I would use a 50/50 solution in the inlet and give it 30 min then plug it back in with the in and out in a bucket with the 50/50 mix until it runs like new.

That van will have either the 3.3L or 3.8L engine. Both use the same water pump. It should run you somewhere in the $35.00 range for the pump. The hoses will depend on the brand you chose, but you should be able to get both the upper and lower radiator hose, and the pump, for under $100. Any parts store should either have these in stock or should be able to get them for you within a few hours! This does not include labor. If you are going to do the pump replacement yourself, you will need to be very careful when you remove the bolts that hold the pump. They are thin, and have a tendency to break. You have to be very gentle to avoid breaking off a bolt, or you will have to drill the bolt out. There is not a lot of clearance, so it is difficult to drill. When you replace the water pump, check the serpentine belt for cracks. It is easier to replace it while it is loose than to have to do it later.
