Q:I want to know how to get a good cup of coffee using my new press.Thank you in advance.
I have a French Press - plus a great Cuisinart coffee pot/machine, and a DeLonghi Magnifica 3300 espresso machine. I use the French Press very rarely, because I think the coffee is too weak - and I'm not sure how you can really get that great of a cup of coffee by pushing down on the grounds by hand. The DeLonghi has very high bars of pressure and the grounds are compacted into little disks after each cup.... The Cuisinart makes great regular coffee too - and brews directly into a thermal pot, which keeps it hot for many hours....

Q:i want to press the flowers that my boyfriend gave me, can i still do that when they are dried?
You can only press flowers if they are fresh, dried flowers will just crumble. To press fresh flowers, just put them between the pages of a thick book. They make special paper to assist the process that you can find in craft stores. Make sure the petals and leaves are nicely arranged before closing the book! Press them early next time.
Q:I have to write and essay with multiple quotes from legitimate book sources on the effect of the Printing Press on the Enlightenment. I am saying that without the press, the Enlightenment would not have happened. Though I can use only one credible internet source, I can cite other web pages as long as the content of my quote can be found in a book somewhere. A little help finding these sources? I've used Francis Bacon's Novum Organum, but other than that, I'm totally lost. And any points I could write on would be great!
The printing press helped with the development of the English language. With the press, more texts were available to the public. With more texts available, literacy increased among the masses. Once literacy takes a foothold, you see advances across the board. I would do a search using key phrases with The History of the English Language. Once you have some titles to work with, you should check out the Project Gutenberg website; it has older texts available on-line for free. Once there, you can obtain quotes and information to cite. I hope this was a little helpful.
Q:What is the weight you hold while bench-pressing called?
You can bench-press against a 'bar-bell' or a pair of 'dumb-bells'. The name comes from the practice of swinging heavy bronze hand-bells, with their clappers wrapped in cloth to make them silent, as a substitute for the 'indian clubs' that were previously used for upper-body training. The dumbell we recognise nowadays started out as a bell-handle, with a heavy metal ball on the end instead of its bell. Soon, 'compensated' versions with a ball on each end started to be manufactured, as well as other variations such as the t-handled 'spade-bell' (now revived as the loop-handled 'kettle-bell') and a version for two-handed use with a long bar instead of a handle, called a bar-bell.
Q:Hi i want to press my flowers (carnations) with a big book, any tips ? I heard something about wax paper but i dont have any x]
The paper on either side of the flower should be acid free.....like you have a stack handy, right? No, I don' thave herbarium paper handy either. So use a paper that isn't slick. Use a couple of sheets, then newspaper. Then corragated cardboard.......that allows the air passage and moisture escapes from the paper. Then pile your book on top. Better would be to make a frame out of lath, 2 of them and put them on either side of the newspaper/cardboard and then use straps to tighten it down. Have the paper exposed completely speeds the drying. The big books will work though. There's even a special glue if you want to mount the pressed flower onto paper afterward. Most of us make do with Elmer's.
Q:I just recently heard of the leaf pressing hobby and it sounds fun and interesting but I do not know much, so I may sound very new and stupid but I'd love it if you helped!1. How long should I press the leaves for?2. How long would they last?3. Should I hang them up or find a nice sized journal with blank pages to put them in?4. IF I hung them up, what sort of paper would I use and how?5. IF I used a nice journal, how would I attach the leaves? I think I saw someone who threaded them on, would that be an okay way to do so?I think that that's about all I have to ask, but if you have any tips and tricks let me know!Thank you!
in schools art class.we would take 2 pieces of wax paper and put the leaves inside then iron them and they last forever :)
Q:here's my earlier question..i have another one...and if someone else found out and told the police...and the parents wouldn't press charges...will he still get in trouble? can they still press charges[not the parents but the police?]
Yes, they can press charges. But if she is very clear that she lied about her age he'll likely be acquitted. Provided of course that they stopped having sex once he found out.
Q:For social studies I have to write why freedom of the press was important to the abolitionist movement but I don't know what freedom of the press is and the rights it gives us. Can anyone give me and easy to understand description of it?
Boy schools are failing in their responsibility's to their students . Freedom of the press is the presses ability to print the news all the news even news against government , to uncover corruption and crime in government and in society with out harm or threat from government or those doing wrong . An the press to publish opinions against policies and laws against the US Constitution . To be freely able to seek the truth and state it to the people .
Q:How do I know what direction to press my seams?
Usually, the seams can be treated in several ways and sometimes it's hard to know which to use though often can be corrected later, but seams are pressed in one direction or the other for several main reasons: 1...so they'll easily fit with other seams when joining two areas where the seams will join or overlap (for example, a row of blocks sewed to a row of blocks will have two seams meeting at the corners of all the blocks...generally then all the seams will have been pressed to one side for one row, but pressed in the opposition direction for the other row so that when joined, the seams from each row will nestle nicely into the other row 2...so a darker colored fabric won't show up around the edges of a lighter one if the seams are pressed toward the dark fabric 3...sometimes also to leave more hand-quilting room since seams are usually too thick to quilt through by hand Some people these days tend to just press all seams open to avoid having to decide, and assume there'll be enough quilting on their quilt to prevent too much stress on any individual seam. And if piecing by hand, which some people still do, the seams aren't actually sewed over so that all options will still be open by the time that seam needs to be sewed to another seam area.
