3) What is the difference of Wilton Carpet and Axminster carpet

Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.

Q:I bought this cool wool runner rug at a consignment shop. It is possibly a blended wool with some brown cotton type thread woven in it that extends thoughout and the remains of the thread is the knotted fringes at the end.
It looks indian to me.
Q:Hello, I need to buy a big, squared burgundy rug (or in any dark red for that matter).I want to cover a room thats 16.6 x16.6 ft It would be fine if doesnt to cover the whole room, Im just looking for possibilities. Nothing fancy, its only to cover horrible flooring.Do you know any online stores that would sell them for a low price?BTW, Im willing to buy a used one and my budget is $400. Thank you!

Q:I have the area rugs on the top of carpet. and sofa was on it. now the sofa is moved and rug is wrinkled badly. how to unwrikle it? I placed heavy books on the wrinkles, still they are not smooth and I trip over them. thanks in advance.
If you spray the carpet LIGHTLY with a mist of water and then place a plastic garbage bag over the wet and wrinkled area and weigh it down over night, that should press out any wrinkles in the rug. Just be absolutely sure to remove the plastic bag over the carpet in the morning as you do not want to cause any sort of moisture problem as you need to leave the rug there, flat, to dry. If that does not work, you may need to use steam. Put your iron on the lowest temperature setting that will still allow steam. Fill the water reservoir and allow the water to heat up. Then, place the iron an inch or two over the rug and press the burst of steam button on the iron to release the wrinkles in the rug but do NOT iron the rug or allow the iron to touch the rug. Allow the rug to completely dry. Either one of these two methods can be used as I have tried both, successfully. I do not know which will work for your carpet because I am unaware of the fabric content of your rug.
Q:Can anyone tell me if it is tacky to use a large carpet remnant as an area rug rather than buying a regular rug? I'm on a pretty tight budget, and I need a LARGE (10x10 ish) rug for our living room. Regular rugs that large are several hundred dollars. What do you think? Any other suggestions?
Not tacky! I was wondering about the edges though... Will they look worn out after some time? I guess it depends on the quality of the carpet. Have you considered buying a used rug? Check out second-hand shops, Salvation Army shops, garage sales ect - plus ads in the local newspaper. Or you could place an ad yourself?
Q:help on rug costs-- geometry?
Step 1: When you compare two items, you want to compare them on common grounds, so... convert all the measurements to inches. Step 2: Find the Area by multiplying length (l) times width (w) or as its probably is shown in your text book... lw. Step 3: Create two ratios. A ratio shows a relationship between things so you can make common comparisons. Like price per pound of hard candy ($ per pound or $/lb) to $/lb of chocolate candy. In this case you're comparing the price of small rugs to large rugs. $/size. Example: Large rug is 58 by 94. The area is lw=58*94=5,452 square inches. Therefore the $/size is $299/5,452 or 299 divided by 5,452 = $.055 per square inch. Do the same for the smaller rug and see if they are the same or similar which would answer the second question.
Q:how do i get rid of a carpet burn please help
The only thing you can do is cut in a new piece. My brother and I do flooring on the weekends. We have done this repair many times. You have to have the right equipment to do it right. (hot iron and seam tape) If the carpet is fairly old, you can also cut out the burn if it is small and re-seam at the cut. This is also done with a hot iron and seam tape.
Q:I have several dogs! Im not sure but isnt partical board that wood thats under the carpet.
We bought a house that was completely horrible with cat pee.the only way to get the smell out(And I tried everything) Was to get rid of the carpet and paint the floor underneath with pro blocker(oil based paint from Sherman Williams) You have to use the oil based the other did not work.I used 2 coats on the floor and put down new carpet and can't smell a thing anymore. Good luck!
Q:Im laying carpet in my house and was doing some online shopping and came across carpet tiles an easier much cheaper slternative to carpet. My question is are they worth it and can you tell its tiled when your done? And how long do they last
Carpet Tiles are sort of the DIY answer to laying carpet, since some people find the thought of unrolling the whole 12' roll and cutting it to be a bit daunting. Most of them will come with a 6-8lb pad attached to the bottom, but some come as a flat lay commercial style as well. They're comparable to the actual rolled carpet, but over time they are a bit quicker to show wear and fray, and the visibility of seams really depends on the installation. With the newer technologies, they've made it so they blend in very well, but only if put down properly. The lasting factor comes down to how you treat the carpet and what kind of warranty it has. Obviously, the one with lesser warranties will go a bit quicker, but the same can be said for high traffic areas vs. low traffic. On average, they don't last quite as long as standard roll carpets. I usually see them installed in basements or sitting rooms, not usually entry ways or bedrooms. Just make sure you do some research on the brands and check the warranties before purchasing, and good luck if you do decide to go through with it :)
Q:I have never purchased new carpet and do not know where to begin. What type of carpet is best for high traffic areas? This will be stairs, hallway and bedroom.
Go for wool or a wool blend for long life.
Q:I would like help buying an area rug for the master bedroom. What kind of material, thread count, under rug mats? I need to know every thing. I have been looking on OKorder and see a lot of rugs that look nice for under $100. Are these rugs to good to be true? Are they really just junk or can a $100 6x8 area rug really be of good quality?
Best to shop at a retailer rather then buying one site unseen.. Visit a merchant that only sells area rugs who will explain the pros and cons . You might be able to custom make and choose your own color and design to suit your project ,,after all youre not just making a home accessory purchase...youre making a statement .
