Q:So the rug has been in a very cold house. Are fleas still a problem or do they die in the winter?
Yes, the eggs can be dormant for years and a vibration will hatch them.. Yes, It does still have fleas..
Q:I keep a super clean litter box, sometimes she goes in it sometimes she doesn't. The bath rug is literally a foot away from her litter box. She's 1yrs old, fixed and is good behaved except for that. Ive washed the rugs, got new ones, tried different material rugs, everything... the rugs have all had rubber backing. I remember I had a rug w/ out the rubber backing I don't think she pee'd on that 1. Could it be the rubber or something? We moved a few months back could that be a reason?
There are so many reasons why she could be doing this, I have 3 cats and I went through this with one of mine a few years ago and now a different cat started doing it after I moved.(The other one stopped when I started covering the couch, his favorite place to pee, with aluminum foil when I wasn't home) Moving can be a big factor behind it, cats bond more with their homes than their owners so moving is a HUGE deal to them. I would have the vet rule out a urinary infection just to be safe, especially if she meows while going or you see any blood in it. Some cats just seem to like peeing on soft things rather than litter. That seems to be what is going on with my guy now, he never did it while living in my apartment, but he started peeing on dirty clothes and rugs about 2 months after I moved into a house, and I had thought he was the most adjusted one! If you catch her doing it, you can yell loudly or shake a pop can with a couple of pennies in it and it may sink in to her that you do not like what she is doing. So far I have not found a cure for my guy, other than I can no longer leave anything on the floor (rugs, clothes, towels, nothing). If I do, he pees on them within a few hours. It is very frustrating, my boyfriend is ready to get rid of him if it doesn't stop. Just a quick note, both of my boys were cleared of having any medical problems causing their peeing outside the litterbox
Q:what rug would look good with this? Not too expensive please!

Q:We just rented a house and the carpet has a very powerful urine smell. The landlord said he had the carpet cleaned and won't pay more. Is there a way to remove the smell permently? I don't want to mask the smell. i need a solution that really works and is cheap and effective. I see no visable stains just the super strong odor. I think it is berber carpet
I would suggest two products called No-Go! and Get Serious! No-Go! is completely organic, and Get-Serious is biodegradable, so it will be safe for everyone that is in your household. What it does is prevents your dog from wanting to go in areas where you spray the product. Generally pets have one area that if they are going to have an accident it tends to be around the same place. The Get Serious! removes Pheromone which is what attracts pets back to where they have previously went at. Get Serious is really useful because it actually not only removes the Pheromone but also the ammonia that dog urine naturally carries. It also lifts any stains that you might have without fading carpets or leaving residues behind. I have 3 labs, a blue heeler, and a pitbull, so this stuff definetly keeps my house smelling nice and fresh.
Q:I have heard that cleaning a carpet with a quot;carpet cleanerquot; can actually harm the carpet. How do I clean my carpet, which is brand new, without harming it? I heard you have to put scotch guard or something on it.....idk please help! Thanks!
My partner and I run a successful Carpet Steam Cleaning business and have heard every rumor going over the years. First a professional Steam Cleaner that knows what he is doing will never 'ruin' your carpet. Many less professional cleaners may not re-extract all of the detergent out of the carpet correctly and as these detergents are designed to attract dirt you end up with what is called 'resoling' with the carpet getting dirtier much faster than before but this in itself does not damage any of the fibers nor is it dangerous to any children or pets and much more likely to occur with a hired machine as the vacuum is usually not strong enough. However we have received many calls over the years by people who have incorrectly used hired machines and permanently damaged their carpets (Usually water related damage) in the process. Personally I wouldn't let one of those machines anywhere near my carpet they run too cold and have limited suction Call in a professional it's like comparing a moped to Harley Davidson Do not attempt to scotch guard your carpet yourself this really does need to be done by a professional (Most Carpet Cleaning Companies will do it for an extra fee) The scotch guarding itself is not difficult or dangerous however it needs to be done immediately after a professional clean. It works by creating a protective membrane on the surface of the carpet to prevent dirt from getting through but it works both ways any dirt still in the carpet cannot get out after application until it wears off in 3-4 years time In most Countries the local health authorities recommend getting the carpets cleaned Once or Twice a year
Q:My sister has a 9x12 area rug that laid flat on hardwood floors and now that she wants to put it on carpet, it curls on the edges and bunches in the middle. Is there any way to keep it flat? It's a beautiful rug, but right now she has it rolled up against a wall.
Lay heavy books on top of any areas of the rug that aren't flat. Let them sit there for about a week. The rug will be flat as a pancake!
Q:For all carpet experts....I accidentally spilled bleach on a small section of carpet in my apartment. I cut out the affected area and tried to patch it with a piece from the closet but the colors dont match. How does the carpet dying process work? I called several places and they suggested I do it myself since they no longer do that sort of work.
Try cleaning with Oxy carpet cleaner by Woolite. Wife spilled beet juice on our new lt. beige berber, blotted up most of the juice, then nuetralized the rest with the ozyclean...can't see the difference, or use Rit dye in a similar color to the original.
Q:I got a damp towel dotted it then turned my carpet light orange trryed oxiclean didnt workplz help me
Ask the Home Depot people, too, cause they know all the latest stuff, but that Resolve worked for me with other stains. If you ever drop something like that again (a dry powder), vacuum it up first. Then, use the carpet stain remover. good luck.
Q:I painted my living room and I covered my carpet the best I could; however, there's always that little blotch of paint that somehow slips through. I tried Goof Off paint remover and I think it sucks. Any good recommendations?
WD-40 works well
Q:I was burning a candle and the wax dripped on the carpet HELP
Take a paper towel and iron over it. it will re-wet the wax and it will adhere to the paper towel. Be careful not to melt the carpet though:) Also some say ice is supposed to work but I haven't tried that one.
