humm, well you don't say how old the carpet is or if it can be matched.. I would look for carpet just like it and cut an even ring around the hole, then cut the new carpet to fit it as tight as I could.. You can seal it down with a carpet glue or double sided tape so it sticks to the floor and the carpet.. But, because I am a lazy human being.. I would just go and get a nice rug and lay it just under the chair.. They sell chair coasters for under the legs at walmart..

It will therefore damage the wood and you will have to pay for it when you move out. You could ask the landlord if you can buy carpet and see what they say, but they probably spent too much on the floors to let you ruin them. You can get a non slip mat and area rug for the bedroom. Check under it periodically to make sure the mat does not stick to the floor. I 've heard of this happening with cheap mats, and the mat basically glues onto the floor, so you end up having to get the floor refinished.
