Q:What's good about the carpet?
Now the carpet can be divided into pure wool carpet, wool blended carpet, chemical fiber material, carpet, plastic carpet and silk leather carpet according to the material quality. The main classification is these. In these materials made of carpet, silk carpet leather is needless to say, this is the most expensive, ordinary people seldom used this carpet, and the pure wool carpet is also the price is more expensive, several other ordinary people is the common material of carpet.
Q:Kids took natural fiber rug outside while cleaning hardwood floors. Boom - Super thunderstorm. Next day rug is soaked, its not looking good at all. is there anything I can do to recover it? After a day or two in the sun trying to dry it out one spot near edge is beginning to grow mold. Can I save it?
thoroughly mix one part liquid chlorine bleach with six parts water in a spray mist bottle. Test the mixture by spraying a little in a corner of the rug (not on the binding). If bleaching occurs, dilute the solution and re-test until it is safe to use. Mist the solution lightly on the moldy area, using a soft brush to work it down into the weave to reach all the mold growth. After five or ten minutes rub the area with a clean, dry cloth. Repeat if necessary. When you are finished, be certain that the rug dries thoroughly within five or six hours, using a hair dryer on the damp spot if required.
Q:Alright.. so i need to kill fleas that MAY be in my carpet. I havn't seen any hop on me but my kitten has got fleas. I have a 12 month old son also.. that crawls on the carpet and puts anything in sight in his mouth, including his hands that obviously touch the carpet. I am sure SOMEONE has had this conundrum at some point... I am hoping some one can help me with this. What i have done so far, i've washed my precious with baby shampoo and combed the rest out... and so far i haven't seen her itch or any live fleas (she's white so they are evident) but i am sure they have gotten in my carpet in my living room. anything NATURAL or CHEMICAL that is toxic for my cat or baby is out of the question.. thanks for reading. i hope you can help!! :)
Rigorous vacuuming will be the best approach. Things that may be non-toxic to your baby are not going to be good for your kitten. For instance, boric acid is considered a non-toxic approach, but if it gets on your kitten's paws, and your kitten washes its paws (which it will do), it is toxic. But you can get some boric acid or diatomaceous earth, and suck some up the vacuum after you clean. That will work on any fleas in the bag that may have survived the trip through the vacuum.
Q:I've moved into a new apartment and have discovered that the carpet REEKS of cat urine! I've tried odour neutralizers in the carpet, as well as powders and baking soda...nothing is working!! What do I do?!
There is a product called Nature's Miracle that is pretty good at removing cat urine smell. You can get it at Petco and Petsmart if you're in the States. Nature's Miracle is really the only thing that I've found to work but not always. You may want to try a professional carpet cleaning company too. If the smell is really bad and set in in the carpet you may be forced to remove the carpet all together. Cat urine smell can be very, very hard to get out. I would contact the landlord ASAP and ask him to fix the problem. He should either send a company to clean your carpet or put in a new carpet. You shouldn't have to live with a carpet that reeks of cat pee. If he doesn't fix it it could be reason enough to break the lease.
Q:I am remodeling a room and I'm not sure if I should put in the baseboard or the carpet first. Also, if the baseboard is first how much of a clearance does the carpet need to get tucked under?
If you already have the baseboard off have the carpet installed and then put the baseboard on. This way your baseboard wont get hit when they attach the carpet to the tack strips.
Q:Me and some friends were wrestling around and I got a rug burn...its pretty red...anyone know the best way to heal it and about how long it'll take? (Dnt wanna walk around skool with it but meh) I was thinking of using Neosporin pain relief ointment (the clear kind) 2 times a day..any ideas? Thx in advance :D
Rug burn is chafing , so neosporinr is perfect. Just wash with soapy water and let it dry first. It will clear up fast if it's just red. If its bleeding or oprn will take longer. Aloe, from a plant will work too.
Q:I have regular rugs and the back of them keep peeling and the colors are faded. I have washed them numerous times. I have heard that people are now using memory foam rugs. What is the purpose for memory foam rugs?
I like how soft they are and they are nice to stand on.
Q:I'm looking for a new rug for a private elementary school library. It must be clear colors, thick enough not to roll on the edges and steam-cleanable. Any ideas?
First off - Rugs/Carpet usually do not Wear out. Matting or crushing is what the consumer perceives to be wear, but it is usually a result of soil build up without proper maintenance. Your rug/carpet must be professionally steam cleaned once a year and the vacuum you use must be checked to see that the bead-er bar is functioning properly to beat at the fibers. Second - price will play a huge part in the size and type. Since this is for an elementary school and they probably do not have rug/carpet in budget, my guess is that you will be paying for it? Suggestion - go to a local carpet store and pick out the least expensive to your taste, have the store order to your size and then have it bound around the edges. You can pickup double side tape and use this to hold carpet flat. This may be your least expensive way. Good Luck.
Q:how wold i go to cleaning a spilt ashtray on a carpet?my little brother pushed the ashtray off the desk and it went all ove the carpet now theres a big grey stain. i sweeped most of the ash up now its just stuck in the carpet.i tryed OXYGEN stain removal spray and that just made it greyer.also if i dont get it out right away will it cause mold?
Vacuum with the brush head and if the carpet is a bit grey, use a steam cleaner.
Q:I am concerned that using the commonly available tapes will damage the underlying carpet. Specifically, if I used carpet tape to attach my rugs to my carpet, if I decide to remove the rugs and tape will my under carpet not be damaged? I appreciate any ideas. Thanks!
Hi, There is rug padding available that goes under your area rug to keep it in place. They can be reversible for carpets or bare floors. Make sure that you buy a quality one that is not going to stain your carpet underneath. They help keep your rug in place and make it easier to vacuum. I would talk to a store that sells area rugs and I've seen them for sale on line. My mom had a cheap rubber one and it soon started falling apart and she was forever vacuuming up the pieces of it. Your underlay is usually 2 less than the size of your rug so that it does not show. Hope this helps.
