Q: I am trying to areting my pond but air pump cost too much. I have an extra water pump available if I make two intake opening, one for water the other for air, would it work? or will it blow up the pump and kill all of my koi because it is made for pump water.
In general an air pump a water pump are two different types of pump though if your pump is a fixed displacement type, say a diaphragm or piston type pump it could possibly be used to pump air. If your pump is a gear or centrifugal type it will not pump air as it is designed for liquids only. It might tolerate a small volume of air in it but you could end up with cavitation damage to the components the air could cause the pump to lose it's prime that is the air in the casing could make the pump lose suction. What you might be able to try is using a venturi on the pumps outlet. That way you could use your water pump to pump water use the venturi to draw air into the water flow. Without getting too scientific a venturi is a smooth restriction in the pipe that speeds up the fluid (in your case water) flow in doing so it reduces the pressure energy of the fluid turns it into velocity energy. If the restriction is sized right it can drop the pressure of the fluid below atmospheric it will draw air or some other fluid into the flow. Perhaps the easiest way you could do it would be to use a round piece of stainless steel or brass (it won't rust) that is small enough to fit into the pump outlet (I'm guessing you're using hoses) bore a hole along the centre of it then bore a very small hole at right angles to it fit it into the line. It might take a bit of experimentation to get the sizes right but it should suck a bit of air into the line at the same time recirculate the pond water. Make sure there are no restrictions downstream of the venturi as the water will come out of it rather than the air being drawn it. Hope this helps.
Q: n my water pump hoses feels like theres no pressure
well before you go through a task like that have u checked for opther options? check it out- First: make sure that your radiator is in good condition, check the belts, the hoses and the coolant level. Make sure that there is no coolant leaks. Check the condition of the shroud for cracks its proper installation. Car fluid or coolant circuit element just changed: Your overheating is probably due to air trapped into the coolant circuit. Use the bleed screw to bleed the circuit. Then bleed again, again, again and again. Nothing had been changed, car is overheating while idling or heavy traffic: 1. Check that the thermostat works and opens. 2. Check the fan clutch. Car overheating while driving. Not stop and go. 1. Bleed the cooling circuit. 2. Check the thermostat. 3. Check the water pump. 4. On the 535i, check the bypass hose located and attached just above the upper hose neck on radiator and runs along the inner walls to the Resivior tank. If it is plugged, the car will overheat. Overheating with A/C on, or very high temperature only. 1. Check that the auxiliary fan is working properly(Bentley manual page 170-4). 2. Check the fan clutch.
Q: the pump is pumping hot wtaer from the hot water tank around the domestic hot water system, i.e to taps and shower.
These pumps can have their own bearing or they may rely on the bearings in the motor. Most of these are anti-friction bearings that have a limited life. Also if the pump runs dry it can over heat and seize.
Q: Pump adapter joint net outside tube, what is the principle?
At once the room after the fire, the internal fire pool once water shortage, the water tank can be within the fire truck hit the water chamber through the pump adapter connected to the fire extinguishing effect.
Q: WATER PUMP, HOSES, 1998 TOWN COUNTRY
this is just a rought est. but Parts: water pump $129, Hoses $45 Each, Coolant 2 gal $30, hose clamps $ 5. Labor: water pump 1.2 hours @$89 per labor hour = $106, Hoses .4 hours x 2 hoses = .8 @$89 = $71.20 plus a possible cooling system flush $69. So your looking at around $500 bucks.........that is probably a little high Good luck!
Q: When should I replace my water pump ?
usually when leaking or noisy
Q: ok so i have a crack in my radiator a small crack but anyways yesterday it caused my car to over heat. i normally keep coolant in the car but it just got low and over heated pretty bad. so today the car is making a really loud annoying noise. coolant is also draining out of the bottom of the engine when the car is on. at a pretty good pace. it is coming out like right under the belt area so my friend said it is probably the water pump baring and he said it could have gotten damaged when it over heated. so i think these symptoms def point to the water pump. anyways i called a mechanic and he said that he had to change the belt to and he said he had to charge me $385. what you guys think. does he need to change the pump and the belt or just the pump? and is $385 a rip off or is that the going rate? thank you all for your knowledgeand information
That water pump is driven by the timing belt. Usually when you do a timing belt or water pump it makes sense to change both now because they are both difficult to get to and you have to take off the same things for both. $385 is a bad price If you want to look smart about it, ask him to look at and check the seals, all he would be able to tell you is if they are leaking, if they are, ask him how much more. It's all worth it if the car is still good. We just did that on a friend's '91 and her's overheated a few times. She ha 235,000 miles.
Q: I have a 2005 Mazda RX8 and I was wondering if upgrading the water pump on my car would void the warranty I have with Mazda. I know such modifications such as air intakes and exhaust systems do not void warranty. The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act says Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle. So is it safe to say it's alright to install? Thanks!
You are correct about the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. Any part that doesn't change the form, fit, or function can be used in place of the OEM part. My question is what is this upgraded pump going to do for you. Does it deliver more water per minute? If you have no other modifications, my wouldn't a stock or exact replacement work for you? If the pump adds water delivery, then they could argue that the water is traveling too fast in the system to effectively cool the engine.
Q: How can the pump be stationary?
1, the pump bearing lubrication interruption, bearing burn.2, locking the rotor is jam.3, foreign body corrosion serious impeller lock.
Q: It's been slowly leaking for awhile now, but today it dumped brown water out like a bucket, when I shut it off facing up hill.
It is really very simple, but get a repair manual to guide you. Only problem I had changing one was trying to align new water pump , gasket and holes all at the same time in a confined area. Here is a tip , get two long bolts and remove the heads, screw them in two mounting holes temporarily, as studs, to align the whole thing then remove them and install the correct bolts after you have secured water pump in place. Good luck
