- Q: Does anyone else have this problem? My bathroom sink smells pretty bad...what can I do to make the smell go away? I clean it regularly but I think the smell is in the piping or something. Please help
- the first thing to do is pour a good deal of boiling water down the drain say 5 kettles full . see if that fixes it . if that does not work you will see a u shaped pipe under the sink once the sink is empty remove this large nut from the bottom of the u shaped pipe . have a buckey read to catch water as there will be some in there and wear either nothing when you do it or really old clothes . in your own home i suggest wearing notthing its easier once you have the nut off then stick your finger in there and pull out any hair or gunk that is in there. then put the bolt back in . you may want to go to the hardware store and get some tape for the bolt before hand its plastic tape or wrap used just for plumbing ask them at the store they will know what you need. you wrap that around the threads of the bolt or nut like thing before you put it back in . the threads are the ridges on the bolt. one time around is enough. this is all easy to do if there is space to work under the sink . it is do able by any able bodied person. if this does not fix the problem then you may have a gas trap problem that requires a plumber. but do all this first unless you find the smell comes out of more then one drain . then go for the trap solution sooner. good luck have fun. oh dont pour chemicals in there as at some point someone may need to open the pipe as i told you how to do and the chemicals can get on the person bad thing to have happen . oh the tool you need to open the plug is called a pipe wrench . they cost different amounts but you should just buy the cheapest one that will work . they adjust to the size of the bolt. the hardware store carries them and ask them how to work it as it is abit different then other wrenches. but its simple to once you know how to work it . so just ask for a 1 minute demo from the hardware store man.
- Q: Ive poured pounds of food particles down my kitchen sink, and I dont even have a in-sink grinder, and the sink never clogs. But one well-timed dump can clog the toilet like that. Why is that?
- Hair ! .. it all goes down the Tub an Sink the bathroom !
- Q: I just remodeled my bathroom and the contracted crew installed a receptacle about 2 inches above my sink is that against code? From what I understand a receptacle has to be at least 18" from any water source. Can I keep the receptacle there or do I have to move it? The receptacle is GFCI and Im talking about Virginia, United States.
- All new bathroom outlet receptacles must be GFCI protected, and 20 ampere rated (assuming, they are installed on #12 wire). Each bathroom sink must have a GFCI receptacle located within 3’ from its outside edge.
- Q: Home bathroom basin cracked a crack, is the quality problem? How to fix?
- If there is a pipe is also smelly to check the sink and the underground sewage pipe connection there is no seal, my home is inserted without sealing, so there is odor in the interface ran out. Seal it with an electrical tape.
- Q: What is the price of the basin-type sensor faucet?
- Induction of copper production costs in the 125-200 or so, too bad for a few months
- Q: I cleaned out the Tube under the bathroom sink, there was gunk in there. However when i put the tube back in it's still clogged. I even cleaned the shaft running from the drain to the tube.
- Don't worry just give a call to Pathfinder Plumbing... They will solve your all your plumbing issues...
- Q: We recently renovated our entire house and we replaced all the faucets in the entire house. The electric hot water heater was also relocated. But now the water doesn't get hot in either bathroom sink. The faucets were purchased from Home Depot I have enclosed the link below. I don't want to call the contractor back out because I don't feel like dealing with him. It took him 8 month to complete the renovation that was suppose to take 2 months... Please help !! http://www.homedepot /Bath-Bathroom-Faucets-8-Widespread-Sink-Faucets/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xg1ZaqnbZ1z139uiZ1z139etZ1z11e3f/R-202044181/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
- how far is the water heater from the sink, are you letting it run long enough, sometimes it takes a while. if the sink is connected to the heater, sooner or later it will heat up, if not, it isnt connected and you need to call the contracter. or you could get an undersink water heater just for that sink. you could also look under the sink to make sure the hot water water line is connected the the hot valve and it is open, although if it isnt there is probably a not good reason.
- Q: I need to remove and replace the tail piece for my bathroom sink. I can't seem to actually remove the old one. It is plastic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
- the top part of the drain. the part you see in the sink spins out of the tail piece..if you still can't get it apart and you have the new one take a hack saw and just cut it behind the nut under the sink
- Q: Ok I was washing my bathroom sink with some sort of cleaner and apparently it was not the right kind. Since then the sink does not drain properly (dirty water stays in it for days and days) and there are a million little hairs (from shaving) stuck in the basin. It seems it melted whatever material it is made out of (some kind of ceramic, i think). Not only is it gross and hard to use (I cant run water for very long or it will fill up) but I am also afraid what it is going to cost. Does anyone know how I can fix this, or how much it is going to cost (to be taken out of my apartment deposit)? Thanks.
- If you melted it, it will have to be replaced. To unclogged the hair, try a coat hanger push it into the drain and twist it around, do this until you have the clog clear. If it is further down the line remove the P-trap under the sink and clear it from this point.
- Q: We just bought a mobile home and upon moving in we noticed that there is a burn on the bathroom sink, we did a tour of the place a few weeks ago the previous tenants were still living there so it had to of happened in the last couple of weeks it looks as if they left a straightener or curling iron on it and it burnt the sink to the point of the plastic melting and now it looks awful! I really don't want to replace the whole sink but I'm afraid that may be the only way to deal with it, it wouldn't be such a big deal if it was in our master bedroom but this is in the secondary bathroom where visitors will be going to the bathroom, anyone know of any kind of filler we can use to fill in those holes and dips so it won't look so bad, then maybe I can paint it and you will barely be able to notice?????
- There is no way to fix such damage. Replace the sink. In future ALWAYS put a condition in the written Offer To Purchase that allows a 'last minute' inspection (after occupants are out - the day before the deal closes). Real Estate Agents HATE that kind of conditional offer and will move heave and earth to get you to drop it. Sellers hate it too. Stick to your guns and insist upon it. If you'd had that condition in your offer for this purchase, you'd have discovered that burn and been able to cancel the deal if you wanted to do so. You'll also be in a position to demand that the sink be replaced immediately ( DO NOT accept a 'promise to do so' later. ) or to demand a healthy discount on the price. I've had RE Agents tell me that they can't put a condition like that in the Offer To Purchase. That's pure BS. You can put any condition you darned well want into an offer. Obviously, if it's a ridiculous condition, your Offer will be rejected, but a final inspection is perfectly reasonable if the place is occupied when you first inspect it.
