- Q: An accidential fire alarm was triggered at work and when I got out of the building I placed a call to 911. (Like the sign on the outside of the building says) 911 says its a false alarm bt they have to send the fd anyways. I tell my boss and when get back from lunch he says I'm being officially repromanded bcuse the fire department had to do an inspection that closed the building down for about 45 minutes. Metallic plumbing is always subject to corrosion, and the fact your house's plumbing has survived almost 80 years without leaking is remarkable. If you are building an addition look into a product called PEX (Shark Bite). This urethane composite tubing will never corrode, split, crack, expands if it freezes, very easy to install and will last relatively forever. It's UPC approved and once it's installed you'll never have to worry about it.

- yes you can, and its simple. the fittings are available at lowes or home depot.just ask for the compression type special fittings to adapt from copper to pvc or visa versa..you will need a copper tubeing cutter if you dont have one and the rest is up to your skills of a home do it yourselfer at plumbing problems.or just ask for expert advise at the place where you get the parts,they usually have someone who has been there done that you can do it they can help !!! so they say.
