If it is being sold to cut up, I wonder if it would make any difference to clean first. And, if it might have some value, do some research first, to make sure that your cleaning method doesn't actually lower that value.

THE BEST I HAVE FOUND IS ..GO GET YOU A BOTTLE OF CLUB SODA AND PUT IT ON THE CARPET AND RUB EASY IN CIRCLE AND BLOT UP WITH CLEAN TOWEL REPEAT OVER IF NECESSARY UNTILL STAIN IS GONE THAT WILL REMOVE URINE STAINS......BOWEL STAIN AND VOMIT STAINS AND ALSO BL OOD.........THIS WILL REMOVE ALMOST ANY KIND OF STAIN IF NOT ALL STAINS SO TRY THIS ..I HAVE USED IT FOR MANY YEARS AND IT REALLY DOES WORK AND IS ALSO VERY CHEAP.....AND I LOVE THIS CLUB SODA AND I DON,T USE ANYTHING ELSE I FOUND IT TO BE THE BEST

I once got tar on my feet at the beach in Miami, and lo and behold, in the hotel's little store they had a product called Tar Off. Worked wonders. Go to any home supply store and they should have something for you.

I assume its wool (thought it may have man made fibres in it).I've cleaned various spills with water over the years - with no probs.It really needs a clean.. can I clean it with cold water? Is this dangerous?I'd like to just take it out and wash it down with a hose... Thanks

You can hose it down but the problem is that it will be sopping wet so it will take forever to dry. Also, professional rug cleaning people who use this method have a way of extracting the water out (vacuum table) so that the colors don't run from being wet too long. Since you don't have the material, I would suggest a carpet shampooer (injection/extraction) or if not, have a wet dry vac handy to suck up the maximum amount of water from the rug and be able to hang it over a bar in a very well ventilated area. You will have to turn it once every few hours. The biggest risk is that the colors run after X time being wet.

Q:My diningroom and livingroom are together so I've painted them a nice yellow...and my trim is wood most of my furniture is oak and I have wood flooring, what color rug would fit perfect with my living-dining area?? And any suggestions on where I can find a good price for one?

Since you have warm tones, go with a pretty sage green, rust, or brown rug. I don't know where you live, but Kohls has some nice ones. JCPenney does too.
