- Q: My carpets are heavyly stained, i have shampooed them using bleach, but the resalt i want is to bleach them as close to white, or clean i can get . Ihave to small children in the house to think about too! Any suggestions on how to clean the carpet myself, within a day would be great!
- I have a tan carpet and discovered that Woolite OxyDeep works wonders. Then you get a heavy duty carpet cleaner and a Bottle of Resolve and clean away. If that doesn't work then you are probably going to have to get a new carpet. And don't give up after the first try.....if it is as dirty as it sounds it is....you are going to have to go over it several times.
- Q: I spilled red acrylic paint on my cream carpet, and on trying to clean it up have only made it spread. ( Yeh, it was silly D: ) Now my carpet has a huge great pink stain in it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of it please?
- Use FOLEX carpet cleaner. It's a heavy duty carpet cleaner. Then after that, go over it with a regular carpet cleaner (like the actual machine) then, if it doesn't come out after that call a professional carpet cleaning company like Stanley Steamer.
- Q: I think I might have carpet beetles in my bedroom. When ever I clean up I find little brown bugs that shed their skin in my carpet and on stuffed animals that were on the ground. Are these carpet beetles? How do I get rid of them? Please help!!!! They give me they give me the creeps!!! Thanks
- Yes. I definitely think that those are carpet beetles. I had a similar situation in my room where I stored a lot of old clothes and old items, and I found small fuzzy insects. I found these tips online on a recommended website... - Ensuring that your clothes receive fresh air and occasional sunlight will help prevent carpet beetle infestations. - Keeping expensive clothes encased in plastic is a great way to avoid carpet beetles from destroying your clothes. - If you suspect carpet beetles in your closet, wash all clothes in soapy hot water. - Spreading boric acid powders on the carpet and furniture can also help get rid of carpet beetles. - Still seeing carpet beetles around your home? Call in a professional pest exterminator and have them gone today!
- Q: Water was spilled on his rug a few days ago and now the smell of skunk where the water was spilled is becoming overwhelming. Tried scrubbing it with soap but once it dried the smell came back. And there absolutely was no skunk in the house. No animals in the house either. Wondering if my daughter peed on that spot ( she pulls her diaper off sometimes). Please suggest something to get rid of the smell I can't afford the steam cleaner right now but I have a wet/dry shop vac.10 points for best answer thanks in advance for your help
- The only other substance that I know of that leaves a smell like a skunk would be skunk bud. How old is your son? Try using either baking soda and sprinkle it on the spot and leave for a bit then vacuum off or use a little bit of white vinegar and water and spray the spot and let dry. vacuum as usual.
- Q: I am currently trying to find a new rug for our bedroom. I am just not sure what color would work.
- Well since you have patterns on your Duvet covers already, i think it best to get a rug that is plain. instead of going for patterns go for textures (e.g a shaggy rug) any light colour would go good such as beige, white, cream or even a grey stone colour to match the headboard, no pattern in my opinion but it is your room! Good luck :)
- Q: I just bought a new carpet for my room. It looks great, but wool keeps on coming out of it. Will it ever stop? Is ther anything i can do to make it stop? Please help

- Q: Looking for an exposé kind of guide for buying carpets both online and at lifestyle stores. Websites should be helpful. Thanks.
- Carpet Buying Secrets by Laura Adams (also known as Insider Secrets to Buying Floor Covering) -- It's the best carpet buying guide I know and also the most current on tips and trends. I work as an Interior Designer, so buying carpets 'smartly' is part of my job. The reason I like this guide is because - (1) It addresses safe buying practices for both professionals and home owners, and (2) It tells you some little-known secrets about buying carpets that the store salesman might just forget to tell.. or may not want you to know about.
- Q: I want to redo my basement but getting new carpet is so expensive! Right now I have a really ugly green carpet with red and light yellowish squares. My kids want to make it in to a more loungey basement so the carpet is gonna be really hard to work with. Is there a much cheaper alternative to carpet or even any ideas as to how we can blend it in or make it work? We really dont want to use the colors in the carpet for anything in the basement. The basement is very very big so even semi-cheap things might be expensive. Thank you!
- Throw out the old carpet, scrub the concrete floor, paint the floor with a paint formulated for concrete. Pick a happy color. Then look for some inexpensive area rugs, try thrift stores.
- Q: My parents bought a 5 x 7 area rug about 20 years ago, at K-Mart or somewhere abouts, and bequeathed it to me when I moved out. The colors are still really nice, but the problem is- and I suspect this has always been the case- its a bear to get clean. I don't mind a few spots, but it collects hair like mad. Its a very tight-woven rug, with no long strands. I run my Dirt Devil upright over it usually three or four times, and nothing budges. Is there a vacuum cleaner that is powerful enough to disentange hair from the carpet fibers? I really don't want to throw it out or store it, but I can't afford to have it professionally cleaned, at $100 a go, every month.
- When I clean my area rugs I take them out to the driveway and spray them off with the hose. Mix some laundry detergent with water and scrub it with a brush, then spray it off really good again. The only downfall here is you have to let it dry outside in the sun, so this is best to do in the summer! And, unfortunately, if you do this often the rug will fade.
- Q: Hello:I am planning to buy contemporary rugs (10ft x 8ft) for my living room. can someone please tell me good stores or online links where i can buy... thanks for the help.
