For the last rinse use 2 or 3 cups white vinegar and hot water and allow this to soak again. Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes and suction the area out again. Yes, I can just imagine the horrible mess that happened with instant coffee. It might be a permanent stain but I would attempt it again after it dries just to give the carpet and yourself a rest. I hope this will help you. Ammonia is great taking stains out but I am not sure about instant coffee so dark and embedded into the carpet. Q: I have a rug that will not stay put.I have tried the special stuff that they sell to put under rugs to help keep them from slipping. It didn't work.I have dried this special spray stuff that works kind of like the scrapbook glue that you can you can move about. It makes it like a restickable sticker.
