Q: My cat got sick a year ago and repeatedly urinated in a corner of a room. The cat is now gone, but I still can smell it sometimes, especially when it's humid. I've shampooed the area probably 15 times and used various enzyme shampoos, treatments. I don't have the money to replace the carpet. I am assuming that the urine is on the pad and flooring. How do I go about cleaning the flooring underneath and replacing the pad, etc. Should I clean the underside of the carpet or just lay in a spare piece?: The enzymes in cat urine are so strong that you will never be able to get the smell out of the carpet or pading. The carpet and padding MUST be replaced where he urinated and the floor underneath either needs to be stripped if its wood or bleached if it is concrete. That is the only way to fix the problem. YOU CANNOT WASH IT OUT OF THE CARPET OR SCRUB IT OUT, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. The enzymes from the urine bond to whatever fabric they absorb into. I have owned cats and I know this for a fact.

Thanks so much!: For the rug not to stand out to much you need just a little color that matches the couch or walls or what ever else you have in the room if you can't match then use earth tones. Also make sure you pick a color that is easy to keep clean. Never get to much of the same color in a room.

No this is not a joke!: In the US--Usually, the carpet they remove when they replace it with the new carpet is discarded. If the owner of the home didn't care to keep it, the carpet store could take it with them. They could resell it and install it somewhere else if they found a buyer. But if they are selling it as new, and it is not, they could be sued for fraud. Some states may have specific health and safety laws prohibiting them from reselling the carpet, but I don't know of any.

Q: I have a shag carpet and can't manage to vacuum it clean even with a flat vacuum brush. Is there any product that can use to clean it thoroughly?: Is shag carpet coming back? They used to have shag carpet rakes that pulled the pile up before vacuuming, and then again after vacuuming. Don't know if they still do or not but check with Lowe's, Home Depot and ask.

Thanks.: if you are looking for a good rug you should know or learn the differences ...wool is the best but it should be worsted so it doesnt shrink as much or bleed colors.alot of those rugs are hand made which is good but alot are manufactured so be careful also beware of the prices obviously you have a laptop so do a lot of research on carpets their textiles and history of area rugs you can get some real good bargains but you will have haggle and jew them down on thier prices cause if they are say asking 200.00 you should pay no more than 90 to 100 understand happy rug hunting
