Q:Both wires are green but unsure if it is the top or bottom wire.
get a test light and check them but make sure your not pushing the brake pedal down when testing
Q:im installing a JVC raido in my 1990 nissan maxima and cant figure out how to properly conect the wires
The easiest way to install the head unit is to buy the harness adapter that's for your car and match the colors of the harness adapter to the head unit wiring harness. An antenna adapter will also be needed for the new head unit. A dash kit will obvious will be needed to make the installation seamless.
Q:I am replacing a regular light switch with a more fashionable looking design. When I took out the old light switch there was a red and a black wire attached. I am used to white and black. Which wire is considered the white wire when I am wiring this switch?
It depends on how they ran the power to the switch. In a standard circuit, white is the neutral. In the switch leg, where you are working, there is no neutral. They can use any wires for a switch except green. You had seen black and white because those are the colors in a 2 conductor Romex cable. This may be a 3 conductor which has red, white, and black. In any case, each of the 2 loose wires go on one of the the brass screws of the switch, and the ground if there is one goes on the green. Some electricians will tape the white wire if it's used in a switch leg to indicate that it's not a neutral. Hope this helps.
Q:i have a 1989 Nissan 240sx and im trying to install an aftermarket Pioneer radio (DEH-P20), my car only has 2 speaker which are in the front right and left side doors, i've gotten many wiring diagrams to help me install it and im pretty sure i have connected the wires correctly. the only problem is that after i got done connecting it, the radio wont power on.. if theres a defective power wire, what can i do to fix it? and also, where EXACTLY do i connect the Ground wire? oh and why does the car wires have multiple same colors for example, theres like 3 light blue wires non striped from the car, etc.?thank you

Q:I am wiring a GFCI receptacle with two regular receptacles after it.So before the GFCI I have my 12/2 wire from where it will hook into the box (the line side), after it I have my wire going to the two other receptacles (the load side).Well the GFCI receptacle has screw terminals for the line HOT and WHITE wires as well as a GROUND. On the bottom it has screw terminals for the load side but ONLY the HOT and WHITE, no ground screw.Does this mean that I don't hook up the ground for the load wire or does it mean I have to pigtail the ground to the same screw the line ground is using?I didn't want to assume that I connect the line and load grounds out of fear I was circumventing the GFCI.
i have an older home with metal boxes, so i attach the line ground to the ground screw in the box approximately in the middle of that wire. then i use the remainder of the wire as a pigtail and attach all of the remaining ground wires to the tail of that wire, plus a pig tail lead to the gfci outlet's ground terminal. if you have plastic boxes, you would skip the grounding of the box, and just join them all together, plus the lead for the outlets ground screw. you may find a picture of this in the instructions that came with the outlet, although they usually are kind of small and hard to read. good luck, hope this helped.
Q:I am changing an outside light with a inside wall switch there is 2 cables going to the outside box. ( 3 wires -white w/red line wire and black wire and green ground wire ) other cable 3 wires is white wire and black wire and green ground wire.On the inside switch is 3 wires white wire a black wire a green ground wire.for some reason it is not working, can any one tell me how to wire and or test for power. thank you
I changed my outside light and sounds like the wires were similar to yours. Make sure you have the power turned off. And, connect and twist the wires (same colored) together, and use the caps, and connect the green ground wire and turn on the power to test it again. Might want someone near the power switch and someone to watch the light to make sure sparks don't fly. And, make sure you have a bulb that works in there. Otherwise might want to contact someone knowledgeable (family member/electrician) with help.
Q:Me and a buddy took the 305 out of the car. I have a 350 to take its place, but was wondering what are the only wires i need to have a clean engine bay. the old engine has a million wires hooking up to everything. Some muscle cars only have spark plug wires, the starter wire and battery cable. What must i do to get mine like that? i dont care about emissions. what must i change or add to the new engine?
I have an '84 Monte SS and wanted the same thing. Here's what I have: the 2 wires that come from the harness and go to the starter (1 Positive, 1 S terminal), oil gauge wire, temp gauge wire, the alternator wires, the wire going to the distributor cap, and the tach gauge wire going to the distributor cap. That's pretty much it, as well as your battery cables, and spark plug wires. You really don't need to do or add anything as long as it runs and everything works that needs to work, it'll be fine. I'm going by memory, so if I forgot something I apologize, but that's the best of my recollection right now. If you have anymore questions you can email me.
Q:I bought a chandelier from Ikea and I am having trouble wiring it. The colors do not match the colors in the ceiling. There is also one extra wire in the ceiling. This chandelier is to be controlled by a switch. Chandelier wire colors:WhiteBlackGreen/yellowCeiling wire colors:RedYellowBareBlackPlease help! Thank you!
Since your ceiling wires are not standard, we can only guess. Chandelier: Black = hot White = neutral Green/Yellow = ground Ceiling: Black = hot (connect to the chandelier black wire) Bare = ground (connect to the chandelier green/yellow wire) Red is usually the color code for power that is controlled by a wall switch. Yellow - I have no earthly idea. Could be a 2nd switch controlled wire. You need to get a test meter to see what wire has power 100% of the time (hot), what wires have power part of the time (via wall switch) and what wire(s) have no power at all (ground/neutral wires).
Q:hi i was wondering if its possible to electrify chicken wire? i have chickens in some fields and they keep wondering and chicken wire is alot cheaper than buying proper electric fencing??
sure, go to a hunting or farm store and buy a deer and game fence electrifier, it runs of a 12vdc deep cycle battery. Its essentially tow parallel wires that carry the voltage. you can place it behind the chicken wire, and if the chickens start messing with the fence, it will short the electrified wires and , zap. the fence electrifier can be set for the duration of shock, so for small game like chickens, the shortest shock is best, they will learn quick enough to stay away from the wire.
Q:the 2 wires that is connected from the key hole is cut .. how to fix or replace?
If there enough wire left on each side of the cut, say 1, then you could bear about 1/4 of the wire on each side and solder the wires back together making sure you are soldering the same wires together and wrap each soldered connection in electrical tape so they are not able to touch each other. Then a final wrap of tape around them both. If you are not up to soldering you could go to an auto parts shop and get a crimp connector to do the job, again bearing of wire is needed to get a contact through the cut area. If the cut is closer to the switch then there is no option but to replace the switch.....
