Q: I'm thinking of buying a shag rug similar to this type. I have 2 boys and a dog...so it will need to be steam cleaned every now and then. I'm wondering if those are cleanable with professional steam cleaners, or if the sucking action will tear up the rug. Figured it would be good to find out before I buy one! Q: can olifine pile rugs go outdoors?: I've used them on my patio, but have experienced some problems particularly if they are rubber backed. Moisture gets between the backing and the fiber to cause little black spots on the rug which are mildew. If it rains and the rug stays hortizontal for any length of time, it will mold as well. The good news is that both can be removed with DampRid Mold and Mildew Remover (the one for fabrics) and it protects the rug from it happening again with little moisture exposure (not drenching, pouring soaking rain). If I'd have known about this product, I would have sprayed it on first before putting it outside and just picked it up when we have a heavy rain to keep it from molding.

Q: Which is better for office of installing the floor or laying carpet?: Use composite floor, which is wear-resistant and easy to clean, and beautiful.

BTW, if this is a basement apartment, it might be a damp smell from being underground.

Longer warranties is a better carpet. Don t buy the notion of the big brand stain blockers are better, They are all the same. You don t pay for the advertising dollars of the no name stain blocker. Thickness in carpet only counts in the amount of yarns per square inch . Thickness in tallness do not always make a better carpet. Its the twists per thread length that make the better carpet. The actual truth is the shorter, the tighter ( twists) the better the carpet.And if the twists are heat set in. Ask a salesperson about this. If they know or can look it up then talk more with them.
