- Q: I'm not to fond of loud vacuum cleaners and neither is my cat so I'm looking for a vacuum cleaner that doesn't make to much noise. Anyone know of one?
- I got a robotic vacuum that I set to work when im not home and some of them are pretty quiet depending on the surface you are trying to clean, this way i dont have to worry about the noise, i dont have any pets so this may or may not bother your cat, but it could be entertaining to watch and see how your cat interacts with it the first couple times. Anyways this was a great purcahse for me and so far im very happy.
- Q: We have a Dirt Devil vacuum currently that we've had forever. It's fantastic but I'm wanting to replace it finally. I'd like a steamer/shampooer but obviously don't need to do that weekly. I'd prefer not to have to purchase both a vacuum and a steamer. Is there an affordable alternative which can do both?Thank you!

- Q: Honest, Himself just purchased a new vacuum we are told one of the attachments was used in the 1940s for nit picking.Have you ever heard of a nit picking attachment being put on vacuum cleaners in the past? If you were to gain some nits would you be inclined to use a vacuum to remove them? Why or why not.Oh in case you were wondering I don't catch nits. I know this because back in the day I had work that involved louse removal from humans I never, ever caught any. Apparently I am immune.
- I never heard of such a vacuum, but I sure as heck wouldn't use it for for that purpose. Nits are literally glued onto the hair shaft with a substance chemically close to the composition of hair, so it would impossible for the vacuum attachment to actually work unless it pulls the entire hair strand out of your head (ouch!). Lice crawl; they don't jump or fly. Lice are spread by having had direct head to head contact (ie hugging with hair touching, sharing hats, etc) to get any number of lice to set up shop on another person's head. You were never infested because there was no direct contact to make it possible.
- Q: please send a website link. if not an answer would do find
- All those fancy plastic manufacturing terms sound impressive, but I'm hear to tell you the Dyson's housings don't hold up like that of other manufacturers using ABS plastic. I've seen too many broken parts on those things. But Dyson has a lot of outrageous claims. Fact; Any vacuum can clog. There are filters to clean, and eventually you will have to replace them. There isn't a Bagless on the market that can out clean it's bagged counter part. They are made in Malaysia not England.
- Q: Or would 2 vacuum cleaners produce the same volume of noise as just 1 vacuum cleaner? but just more consistently? ie. the same volume of noise, but just more of it. Assume the vacuum cleaners are of equal distance and they are the same model. Some analogy could be made when you touch one hotplate with one hand and another hotplate with the other hand. Touching the second hotplate doesn't mean that you are receiving heat that is twice as hot, you would just be receiving twice the amount of heat.Or is noise more like light, where two light bulbs do equal more light.
- no it wont be twice as loud. noise is rated by decibles and every time the noise is doubled, the decible reading goes up 1 decible
- Q: Where can i find the vacuum cleaners listed in the consumer reports?
- Most of the vacuums in consumer reports can be bought at your local stores or on the internet and the makers site. Be advised that you probably won't find the vacuums at the prices stated in consumer reports mag. I hunted all over for a hoover bagless vac that they rated good for under $200.00 (their price was about $160) the best I could do was $180.00 and it was a re conditioned vac plus I would have had to pay S H of $50.00. I don't know where they get their vacs for those prices but I wish they would include that in their reports.
- Q: Do they actually increase the amount of suction or are they simply a marketing ploy we have all fallen victim to?
- The vortex spins the air at a high speed and the dirt is removed by centripetal force, that is why there are no bags.
- Q: I want a lightweight, easy to use, vacuum with good suction. Any suggestions? I don't want to spend more than 300.00. Also, does anyone know what is the suction power I am looking for for hosehold use.
- Oreck.It's an upright.There are several models,One is $299.00.I'ts very lightweight,suction is powerful.Great household vacuum.
- Q: Not sure which brand I should bite the bullet on
- I okorder , I called up because a buddy of mine actually told me he went into their store and got a discount and got $150 off for calling up. Had it the next day in CT at $949 flat. Definitely would recommend Miele though. Germans always make the best
- Q: I just bought Kirby Sentria vacuum cleaners for $1400. The salepersons were here for 5 hours doing their demo.I kind of am changing my mind I have had it for less then 2 hours. The paper says that I have 3 days to change my mind. Should I keep it or take it back?Is it hard to take it back?
- You should have no trouble taking it back. Call the number on your paperwork and also WRITE them a letter and keep a copy. (just to cover your a$$). But do it right away. Personally, I LOVE mine.
