- Carpet prices vary widely as does quality. But you can get a mid grade carpet and pad to cover any warranties for around 3$ a s/f installed. Of course you can get a better carpet ( and cheaper ) but you generally get what you pay for.. Don t down grade pad since this is the back bone of any carpet..If any thing this is one place to up grade to what you can afford. GL

- Sorry to tell yo uthat the stains are most likely permanent. Seagrass, by nature is a porous fiber. Hence the stains have penetrated the fibers in the rug, and have become inherent, just as a dye would. Your best chance would be to completely redye the rug. It may be cheaper however to buy another, and keep Puss N Boots in the other room.

- Your carpeting is stretching which causes the wrinkles you described. Most often this is due to improper installation. Many installers just rough cut a piece of carpet, bring it in to the room, unroll it, trim it and use a tool to kick in the carpet under the baseboard and onto the tack strips. The proper way to do it is to use something called a power stretcher which stretches the carpet from one wall to the opposing wall. Go back to the people you bought it from and see if they can get the original installer to make it right. Most carpet stores send installers a lot of business and have a fair amount of influence over them. If they refuse or the installers refuse make sure you let them know your dissatisfaction and report them to the Better Business Bureau. Hopefully you won't have to pay for this yourself or take things that far.

Spot Shot carpet cleaner will give you instanteous gratification and it can be used for other purposes, too, like cleaning upholstery. Wine Away sold at kitchen stores and Cost Plus also works on red based stains. Some red dye based stains can also be removed with a solution of oxyclean and water, but be careful to test it on an inconspicious area first to determine whether it will change the color of your carpet. Sometimes a simple paste of borax and water works and you can let it dry and vacuum it up.
