- [1] Yes you can tile over the existing tiles, What you need to do first? Is to rough up with rough sandpaper on the existing tiles to give a bite for the new tiles to hold on. [2] It is better to have ready mix, because it will have every things in it [3] Most grout are waterproof and also you can get differ colour grouts to match your bathroom. [4] Put in your new suit first, then tiles on top of your existing tiles, and grouts it as well. [5] fill your bath first, then seal it, so it will have the weight of the bath and water in it and it wont break the seal and lest chance of a leak.

One way to distract people from the plain white is to take out tiles in a pattern and replace them with some colorful tiles that will draw people's attention from the main color. You can take out those tiles by using a hand grout saw to take off the grout surrounding the tiles you want to remove. Then smash those tiles in the center with a pointed centerpunch and a small hammer. Work your way out toward the edges of the smashed tile until you have cleared their entire square. That is where you are going to cement-in and grout the new colorful ones. It is time consuming but it will upgrade the floor and make people forget the basic off-white.

IT IS NOT YOUR FLOOR! read your rental agreement I am sure it says you cannot start building things or changing the structure without permission. ask your landlord first or forget about getting your security deposit back or maybe get a big bill to repair what you ruined. I think you mean vinyl flooring real linoleum is old and very expensive. to put vinyl down the floor must be perfectly flat otherwise the pattern will show through and it will probably rip. you would have to mud it to make it flat first. Go check what it would cost to have it mudded and have vinyl installed. I think you might decide it is not so ugly after all

- You need to paint tiles with tile paint, especially if they're in a wet place like your bathroom or toilet. Alternatively (if you want to put yourself into more expense), you can buy a universal sealant to first seal the tiles. Paint the sealant onto the tiles and give it enough time (according to manufacturer's specifications) to dry. You can then paint over this with emulsion paint. One word of warning: Don't expect it to last forever and it may scratch easily. It'll look good though... I've used this method in the link below.
