- Our big brother( homeland security) has instructed the water company's to install anti back up valves in the water system to keep us safe from terrorists trying to back flow chemicals into the water system. I would check with water company and see if this has been recently done at your house meter.The problem is no where for the pressure to go when the water heats up. you will as all others will have to install a pressure expansion tank. If you find this not to be the case I would put a pressure gauge on one of your outside water valves and check the pressure.as the safety valve you are referring to will start to re leave some where around 70lbs and pop at 150 lbs. to keep from too much pressure build up. This can be caused by a tiny leak in the pressure regulator located in the incoming line. Hope this helps

- I work on antique steam boilers and engines for a hobby and if your supply valve isn't letting feedwater into the boiler, I'm going to tell you right now that you potentially have a VERY dangerous situation on your hands. Until you get this issue resolved, I would recommend that you not steam this boiler up under any circumstances, unless you have a backup feedwater delivery system that is working correctly. Many people don't know this, but a low water condition in a boiler under steam is essentially a ticking time bomb and can result in a fatal explosion. As to what may be causing it, I would say it's possibly one of two things: 1.) The check valve has been installed backwards and the flow of water is basically pushing it shut. 2.) The check valve is installed correctly, but is frozen shut due to corrosion and scale. Either way, I would have a certified boiler inspector come out and take a look at it; he can probably tell you more than I can.

Also, it is important to correctly torque the valve cover fasteners. A common mistake is to crank the fasteners down until they are really tight. This over crushes the gasket and can distort the valve cover which can cause leaks. These fasteners when correctly torqued are not as tight as you might think.

NOTHING! It does not add horsepower. It is simply a noise maker to attract the attention of Law Enforcement. So what can you install to improve a Turbo-Charger's boost capability? HKS Controller, Cold Air Intake, Intercooler, High Flow Catalytic Converter, and some type of high performance exhaust system. What's this going to cost? $5000.00+ easy! Lastly, the Blow-Off Valve has nothing to do with the EGR Valve. Two totally different devices, performing two completely different tasks. And... not to burst your bubble. Since you don't know the difference between a Blow-Off Valve and an EGR Valve, I suggest you start taking some basic Automotive Technology classes BEFORE you get into learning about the high performance parts. Why? The last thing you want to do is get into something that is over your head, then have a very large repair bill on your hands because your inexperience in the task at hand is the result of the damage done to your car. One last item here. Performance does not equal fuel efficiency. The more horsepower you want, the more fuel will be required to make it. The more horsepower you desire, the lower the reliability. This becomes a factor because you will be harder on the parts which are doing the jobs required of them. So think before you decide to make major changes to your daily driver. Making performance changes to your daily driver, is a great way to have your friends passing you up with you stuck on the side of the road facing a big tow bill and an even larger repair bill. Bottom line, build your muscle car for a weekend romp, and leave the 4 Cylinder job shuttle alone. Just speaking from 25+ years of turning wrenches!
