Q:vapor barrier under carpeting?
Good morning, The other user gandrew is right about using a vapor barrier plastic sheeting underneath your floors in the crawlspace, but you can also go a step further and use a higher-quality carpet pad that has anti-microbial treatment in it alongside a vapor barrier. I work for The Home Depot and we, alongside other home centers, sell upgraded pads you can buy that have these features to ensure you won't have to run into the musty odor carpet problem ever again. Also, when you buy your carpet, be sure the material is of high quality and check for things such as moisture and stain warranties to make sure you are getting the best carpet for your great room. While there are other things to do, such as painting your wood floors and crawlspace walls with a moisture barrier material, it's much easier and works just as well to secure sheets of plastic underneath your floors (use .4 mil or thicker) and a high quality 6lb. or higher carpet pad. This one-two punch of a vapor barrier in the crawl space as well as a pad underfoot when you purchase your new carpet can and will ensure you will have a moisture/smell-free floor guaranteed! Hope this helps you out, aboveaveragejoe
Q:How do you clean a big rug?
I have a big living room rug. It is acrylic but a very nice fake persian rug that wasn't cheap. You can only use the following for an acrylic rug, but if it is dirty and stinky, it would work (see for just stinky rugs below). Take it out to a deck or some surface that is not grassy or soily under neath. Hose it down and scrub it with oxyclean and a mild dish detergent, hose it off and then hang it so it will dry (takes a day or so in dry weather. If it is just smelly, get some old fashioned lysol spray (the kind that smells like antiseptic, not the new pretty smelling ones and take the rug outside. Spray the hell out of it and let it sit in the sun for a couple of hours. This will kill the mildew, old clothes smell or whatever is making it smell. You can't use febreeze or something with a nice odor because it will cover the smell, not get rid of it. Good luck
Q:how to clean the dirty carpet quickly?
If it is wool, be sure to get to the dry cleaners. If it is chemical fiber, brush with agent at home (1) multi-layer structure distribution of carpet stains, dirty carpet stains in the A. level, which makes it easy to bury the stains, dirt. Old stain is not only on the surface, but also deepen into the layer of fiber taxture Lime, sand infiltration,2. three supporting layer becomes the hidden dirt, continuing to damage the carpet fiber. The carpet was constantly rubbing, stains, dirt will be buried more deeply . B. carpet stains, dirt classification: A. water and dry stains, dirt and stains are mostly water-based and dry substances, including dust, sand, starch, soft drinks, tea, fruit juice stains accounted for about 80%-85% of all dirt, especially fine dust, cast of life and work, mostly adhere to the carpet surface. The larger particles of dirt will slide on the supporting layer. B. oil based stains, dirt (including animal and plant oil, cosmetics, shoe polish, pen oil etc.). If it is wool, be sure to get to the dry cleaners.
Q:Eco friendly carpet cleaner solution?
Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. They have a list of stains to choose from, but in your case I would just look up the solutions that they tell you how to make. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. Best of luck!
Q:Molding or carpet?
Oxyclean. If it's the powder then wet the spot and saturate the area with the powder. Let it sit for a while. Maybe even overnight. You will have to have a carpet cleaner or shop vac to suck up the old oxyclean. Then you will probably have to reapply several times. I do this with my laundry that gets mildew and mold on it and it works like a charm. If you use the liquid oxyclean that comes in the spray bottle then just spray it on and suck it up with the carpet cleaner or shop vac. This is the method I use on my carpet with pet stains and I love it. hint: liquid tide in the carpet cleaner works wonders too.
Q:is carpet suitable for home decoration?
Yes, but it's troublesome to clean up. it is ok without a child.
Q:Dedusting carpet
The best choice is the box carpet, it's very convenient to clean up. It can also be spelled out the area you need in accordance with your own mind. The general carpet has a little bit of dust removal function.
Q:How to clean the glue on the carpet?
If it is chewing gum or flexible glue like double faced adhesive tape or Black & Decker glue ( full- purpose adhesive), and banana oil. use the volatile oil, but the carpet will be damaged, chloroform and hot water containing soda are the best. transformer oil and rosin water can also be used; if it is glass glue, acetic acid could be used(vinegar essence, nail color remover); if it is 502, it is afraid of heat and alkalis; if it is epoxy resin (combining of two kinds of glues), white vinegar), Fengyoujing could be used if you are afraid of pollute the air.
Q:Removing Cat Urine Odour From Carpet?
Nature's Miracle, found at pet stores................but, if it's really deep down in the padding, you may be S.O.L no matter what you try. If it's really bad, tell your landlord he has to replace the carpeting because it's making you sick from the smell. And that's what burns me up about some stupid cat owners. They're the ones that give CATS a bad name. There are no smelly, dirty cats. There's only bad cat OWNERS. And the reason alot of landlords won't even allow pets in the first place. But, yea, I'd be talking to that landlord if it's getting to you. You're not paying rent to be made sick.
Q:are there rugs that are made of hard non fabric material?
A remnant of roll linoleum.
