- With electric heat, you're into a large generator. 'Automatic on' means a transfer switch generator control panel. If you're thinking about 'survival mode' diesel is your best fuel option. (More widely available, less tech. support for refueling, and stores well.) You might consider an engine heat capture system for efficiency in winter conditions. You probably need about 20-25KVA to handle full load with heating. (That's only a 'guestimate, DO do the math before you select a unit.) This won't be cheap.

- Man, your question is really cryptic. I assume that you are trying to relate kg/h (kilogram per hour) of (maybe fuel) into the engine with kVA (kilo-volt amperes) out of a generator that it may run. There is no conversion factor. But there are some rules of thumb that some can make, based on the size and service of the engine. But you did not provide even that scant information, either.

- You need to load test it and operate it to test both the power output of the diesel, and the condition of the generator.See if you can rent the use of a salt box to load test the generator.or see if the seller will allow you to hook it up to your equipment at your place and see if it will carry the load under real world test conditions. Note, a marine electrical shop,or motor rewind facility should have a salt box. Call and ask them

- There may be no difference. It will depend on the application. For example, if I specified an ATS that had the proper voltage and current capacities, the only other item of concern would be to determine if the transfer would be a make before break or a break before make type of transfer. In a make before break, it would mean the sources would be placed into parallel operating condition before one of the sources was interrupted. This would require the ability to synchronize the sources. Which means the frequency, voltage and phase relationship of the sources must match before they are placed into parallel service. On a break before make switch, usually only phase rotation and approximate voltage levels are of concern. Hope this helps, Newton1Law
- Q: Hi, i have a peugeot diesel conected to an 8kw alternator via a lay shaft engine 2275rpm alt 1500rpm at 2250rpm engine produces max torque 70lb ft, alt should only need 33lb ft. under heavy load engine allmost stalls. - The alt is what RPM you will set the engine atMost 120-240 volt are 50 HRX and run at 1800or 3600 so if it's the 3600 back end your using the wrong engineUnless you use a pulley and belt to get the correct RPMMY 8K Diesel marine ONAN direct drive 3cyc runs at 1800 Rpm If your over loading the genset than no engine will workwhat is the load your pulling as 8K is 80 amps Max single 240V or 40 amp double 120V

- One power station will have many gas turbines and generators. This depend upon the availability of gas,power consumption in that area,pollution problems etc.

- Q: I have been given a cheap diesel generator made from china. It starts alright, but seems to be reving very high and poping and spitting until it has ran for a while. It surges some times as well. I don't really like it much and haven't used it to power anything other then to load test it a bit. I have checked the motor and all it has is a simple governor on it with no adjustments? I am not sure even where to start adjusting anything on this. Any body have one of these and same problem? Please I was given it, I would like to get a little service out of it , not just junk it Fuel, oil, air filter are all new.so? help?
- So what did you want to do with this engine? It sounds like a stationary engine used to power a generator or pump or similar application at a constant RPM.
- Q: I have two deisel engines and two tank feeds, how can I connect the genset (4KVA) . I am conerned when the engines are idling or even running they will start the genset. I do not want to put an extra tank.Thank you
- If your tank has another port on it for a fuel line that is where you hook up. If not go to the supply line at the tank and put in a T fitting and then a shut off valve for each engine. Run the supply line to the generator from that T. You will also need a return line from the generator that you can T into at the return line from the engine at the tank. Many people that convert from gas to diesels run into these same problems. Often a fitting is made up that is put in the fuel fill line to allow for the return line. The generator supply and return lines will be smaller then the engine fuel lines. Running the engines will not cause the generator to start.
