The ratio when mixing concrete by hand is one round nosed shovel full of cement, 3 round shovels of sand, 1 shovel of gravel and water to get the consistency of heavy toothpaste. The consistency can be thinner if adding to a form holding the concrete say in a tube buried in the ground to support a deck. You add the dry ingredients and using a hoe, mix until all the ingredients are one uniform color ( no longer sand or cement) which can take 3-5 minutes. Next start by adding a little water and bring the mix to the water with the hoe. Continue doing this until all the dry ingredients are thoroughly mixed and wetted to the consistency you wish. Want to avoid all this: buy premixed bags of Concrete Mix at Home Depot under $4 a bag for small projects. If you are contemplating a larger project you need more information about concrete finishing before ordering a load from a company that mixes it and delivers it to your house for you to spread around.

In our part of the country, concrete is going for about $110 per cubic yard delivered. You need to know the thickness of your concrete, as well as the area. Example: 20' x 20' x 4thick slab......equals 20 x 20 x .33 [or one third of a foot]. This equals 132 cubic feet. A cubic yard of concrete has 27 cubic feet in it. You need to divide your total volume [132] by 27. This = 4.88 cubic yards of concrete needed for that size slab. Concrete is sold by the 1/3 yard, so this would round up to 5 cubic yards 5 x $110= $550

- Only con is it is difficult to cut, need to purchase the correct saw blade. It is very stable with changes in temperature, unlike vinyl siding. It does have a similar appearance and will increase the value of your home more than vinyl would. I think that vinyl should decrease the value, it is just not a good material for siding. Have worked many days on repairing vinyl siding that is coming loose. I plan on using cement board siding when I replace the siding on my home. Price is very good right now for cement board, about the same price as the cheap masonite lap siding.

- There are many different types of both cement and glue. Some types of cements are stronger than some types of glue and some glues are stronger than some cements. For instance, polyurethane glue is much stronger than rubber cement. On the other hand, a ceramic cement is much stronger than white household glue. - The wet would be heavier because when the water evaporated,you would lose the weight of the water. It would have nothing to do with, if dry cement was heavier than water or visa versa. Oh yeah, a cubic fot of water weighs more than 10 pounds, water weighs 8 pounds per gallon. A cubic foot of water is 7.48 gallons and weighs 59.84 pounds.

- Define 'smoke out of.' I'm not sure what the auto-ignition temperature of the vinyl cement you're using is, there's probably an MSDS sheet on it available from the manufacturer. Depending on how much you're using, I'd be more worried about breaking down the cement with heat and inhaling any off-gassing/fumes. But its probably fine. EDIT: Also, vinyl cement probably won't work. The vinyl cements I'm familiar with use a chemical reaction with the vinyl to create heat and fuse/melt the two pieces of vinyl together. Since glass isn't vinyl, it probably won't hold (for very long, at least).

- Temporary cement won't unfortunately help that much. You can resin filling placed to bond the pieces together. However, the ultimate restorability of the tooth depends on how far down the crack extends.
