Q:I think i'm looking for 5000 watts which should cover my fridges and a fan and light, maybe the TV too. I also think I want 120/220v, and one that uses unleaded. What about horsepower and rated output? Are those important? What's the difference between say a Cummins Onan 6500 at Costco (currently $250 off) and a $399 generator of the same wattage on sale at Home Depot for example?
we have a 4,000 or 5,000 that we use at camp it has a honda engine and we run a 50 foot single wide trailer with lights that are from 60watt-100watt a small fridge furnace fan 50in tv water pump and sometimes a medium size microwave but lights will dim if everything is on we have had it for 4 years we keep in in a small 3 sided box with roof and stays outside all year we bought it at lowes
Q:I built my own, verry successfull HHO gas generator and I want to inject the gas being produced, strait into my car engine but the flame keeps going back into my hose, i have going strait into the air intake carb, and blowing up my generator! I built a little flashback arrestor with gas piping filled with aquarium airstones and that obviously didn't work. Where can i buy a professional industrial flashback arrestor so I don't have to make my own?
If you use the term 'HHO', you sound like an idiot. There's no such chemical. There's H2, there's O2, and there's H2O. Electrolysis of H2O (aka water) produces H2 (hydrogen) and O2 (oxygen) gas. Burning H2 (reacting it with O2) produces H2O. Nowhere in this process is anything called 'HHO' produced. But the bigger isue is why you'd even want to put hydrogen gas into your car engine. It is designed to burn gasoline (or diesel), not hydrogen. Putting hydrogen into a gasoline engine is like a human eating a rock. Sure, it's possible, but it doesn't give you any benefits, and it could cause serious problems.
Q:i want to put three phase current of two diesel generating sets in only three phase.
you will need to govern them together, other wise if one is running slightly slower than the other the slower one will act as a motor and not a generator/ alternator. so both must turn at the same rpm speed. then its just wiring configuration delta - delta or Y - Y configurations.
Q:how does a generator work powerlessly. i mean like if there is a black out people cna generate energy from like a generator. well then how come a generator work without the help of anything? (NOT TALKInG About the hydropower generator, the one that spins.
Generators *always* take some kind of mechanical energy to operate. In the case of a power blackout, backup generators use large diesel engines rated for hundreds of thousands of Horsepower, to run the electrical backup generators. Those diesel engines (obviously) run on diesel fuel so, there is your 'anything'. .
Q:i am going to buy a second hand generator which is 108kva diesel enginehow can i test it so i know it starts but also is capable of running around 80-100kvai want to make sure it is strong and still working and not that it just startsplease help thankssam
You need to load test it and operate it to test both the power output of the diesel, and the condition of the generator.See if you can rent the use of a salt box to load test the generator.or see if the seller will allow you to hook it up to your equipment at your place and see if it will carry the load under real world test conditions. Note, a marine electrical shop,or motor rewind facility should have a salt box. Call and ask them
Q:I have been trying to research the specifics of utilidor functionality for nearly two weeks and have come up with hardly any information. What I'm wanting to know is, at certain access points of utilidors in artic areas, is there something above ground that powers the tunneling below like possibly a transformer or a generator? I know it seems unfeasible to have either one out in the open to be exposed to the elements but I still want to know. And also even if this isn't the case now, was it so when the tunnel systems were first made?
I had not heard about Arctic underground tunnel systems, nor Utilidors. Is that a brand name for utility doors? A back up battery and a crank to manually open the doors seems like a good safety measure.
Q:Do you have more insights into this? Japan builds great cars, machinery, tools and high-tech products. Their bullet train is known for almost zero delays in decades. Yet with the Fukushima nuclear power station we have flawed tsunami protection in a location known for powerful earthquakes and tsunamis for at least centuries. I guess no one should be surprised by a ca. 50 feet tsunami at that location. It looks to me like such an obvious blunder. Am I mistaken? - And I mean no offense to the great people of Japan who so valiantly dealt with the terrible tsunami crisis that I admire this very much. Thank you.
Yes you are mistaken. The Fukushima station was designed to withstand average tsunami that had occurred in that area. However the tusnami that hit was much larger than any seen before in that area, or in recorded human history for that matter. Even if you could design a facility to withstand a 200 or even 500 year disaster, eventually you'll encounter something even larger, and then you'll be right back here whining about why did they only design the structure for a 500 year disaster, blah blah blah. Furthermore, such a facility would be prohibitively expensive and over engineered. Was it a risk to only design something to withstand a once-in-a-century event? Sure, but there's no such thing as 0% risk.
Q:how is the diesel power transmitted to the traction wheels in a diesel locomotive
The diesel powered unit is coupled with a generator which in turn powers the traction motors that turn the wheels.
Q:I know that they could re-surface to re-establish a normal supply of air but what about when they were under attack and couldnt surface for long periods of time, wouldnt those engines use up a lot of the oxygen inside the sub?
Water is H2O they use and used a process where they take the water and filter out the hydrogen leaving them with oxygen and they just pump out the hydrogen into the ocean
Q:Details of the equipment and plant capacity are as under:Power generation plant having 02 gas generators and 01 diesel generator ( general maintenance outsourced)HVAC plant (general maintenance outsourced)Fire tube boilers one operational and one stand-by (maintenance by plant personnel)Automatic Lubricants Blending system (maintained by plant personnel)Blow molding machines (maintained by plant personnel)Injection molding machines (maintained by plant personnel)Screw Air compressors - 04 Nos (maintained by plant personnel)Fire Fighting Network including fire hydrants and monitors (maintained by plant personnel)General maintenance of 02 PE buildings and 01 RCC Office BlockAutomatic Filling machines (for small cans) (operated and maintained by plant personnel)Gear Pumps and motorsLubricants oil tank in tank farm areaMotor vehicles including 03 tank lorriesOverall maintenance of plant that is not included in above
I assume (maintained by plant personnel) means the maintenance staff doesn't do that job. Start with one person half time. Keep adding hours and personnel until the level of maintenance reaches the plateau you desire. Or go in one night and sweep the entire plant and dump the trash cans yourself and multiply the time it took you by three. Keep adding hours and personnel until the level of maintenance reaches the plateau you desire. If you want the bathrooms to sparkle and all the paint to be recent and fresh, it will take more hours than good enough.
