Product Description

A diesel generator is the combination of a diesel engine with an electric generator (often an alternator) to generate electrical energy. This is a specific case of engine-generator. A diesel compression-ignition engine often is designed to run on fuel oil, but some types are adapted for other liquid fuels or natural gas.

Diesel generating sets are used in places without connection to a power grid, or as emergency power-supply if the grid fails, as well as for more complex applications such as peak-lopping, grid support and export to the power grid.

FAQ:

Q1: What is Prime Power and Standby Power Rating?

A1: Prime Power (PRP): Prime power is available for an unlimited number of annual hours in variable load application, in accordance with GB/T2820-97eqv ISO8528; A 10% overload capability is available for a period of 1 hour within a 12-hour period of operation. Standby Power Rating (ESP): The standby power rating is applicable for supplying emergency power for the duration of a utility power interruption. No overload, utility parallel or negotiated outage operation capability is available at this rating

Q:I just watched the Chernobyl Diaries and it made me really interested with the actual disaster and the impact of it. I never really knew anything about it up until watching this movie and it just fascinates me. What happened that the nuclear plant exploded? Did people did from it? What is Chernobyl like today? Just some interesting facts about the whole thing would be great!
On April 26, 1986, the operating crew planned to test whether the Reactor No. 4 turbines could produce enough energy to keep the coolant pumps running until the emergency diesel generator was activated in case of an external power loss. During the test, power surged unexpectedly, causing an explosion and driving temperatures in the reactor to more than 2,000 degrees Celsius—melting the fuel rods, igniting the reactor’s graphite covering, and releasing a cloud of radiation into the atmosphere. The precise causes of the accident are still uncertain, but it is generally believed that the series of incidents that led to the explosion, fire and nuclear meltdown at Chernobyl was caused by a combination of reactor design flaws and operator error.
Q:I was offered a job in the same general posistion for a YOUNG company that has offered me 15.00 more a hour, lead position, training in a differnt brand of the same product I work on and, basicly the freedom to choose my own hours (avg. 40-55 hrs). Or do I stay where I am at were I have some stabability, lead position, unstable hours (avg. 40-65 hrs plus nights away from home/family), possabilities of advancment and, a since of loyalty to bosses. Note: I worked hard to get where I am at, however, my current knowledge is the bases for new job. WHAT DO I DO????????????
A very young company often provides excellent opportunities for advancement since you can grow with the company. So, you have to decide whether you'd rather take a bigger risk for what could be a much bigger payoff. Because, a large number of new businesses fold within the first 5 years. The theory that the hours will be dramatically different is probably wrong. You work as many hours as you do at your present job because that's how you achieve your objectives. If this is essentially the same industry, you should assume that success will require the same effort level at the new business. The type of position also influences the answer to this question. For example, if you were in a sales position, selling an unknown brand would offer a great deal of risk, and potentially major barriers to success. If you're in a web design position, a young company may offer much more opportunity for success since you don't have to overcome the mistakes which have already been made, and have more freedom to innovate. So, think about the type of position you work, and how the position will be different in a start-up.
Q:I would like to find out if a product exists which permits remotely using a mechanical switch to power cycle a diesel generator. Maybe one that has an IP which I could connect to or uses RF. Literally just turn on/off the power without interacting with it physically.
Should be doable, except I can see a problem - How will you know if the thing started or not ??
Q:If global warming is as bad as Scientists say, two hours a month without power seems like a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure theres a way to keep hospitals running and emergency services running. All shops would have to lock down I guess people would start rioting or something, but I would think there would have to be some sort of way to covertly have different towns and counties shut down for a couple hours discretely each monthmaybe at night when people are sleeping? Just a thought.
Of course it would depend on the power source. It is not the use of electricity that is causing problems to the global climate, but how it is generated.
Q:I was talking with a friends and I know gas in a car or lawnmower etc will go bad after a certain amount of time. Then we got thinking about the massive amounts of diesel fuel in storage at hospitals etc, is there a storage life for it? and is it turned over all the time?
Let me explain something to you: Hybrid is a drive configuration. Diesel is an energy source. You see how they're two completely different things? You can have a diesel hybrid, what do you think freight trains are? Diesel fuel has it's up sides, and a diesel electric hybrid would be even better. Why do you have such a personal dislike of hybrids? What exactly do you have against a more efficient, longer lasting drive configuration? Oh, and you talk about low end torque? Electric drive produces max torque at stall. You'll never win a torque battle with an electric, they've got it all over ICEs in that department.
Q:I am contemplating on getting a full house generator and need some feedback from you all.l. What is the best brand for quality and durability of a generator and what hp would I needThe house is about 2,000/sq ft, central A/C heat, all electric at the moment with the usual appliances.2. I want to connect permanently to breaker box for automatic turn on and will need fuel for it.3. In light of today's economy and potential collapse if one is in survival mode, is it better or cheaper to have butane or propane ?Also what size tank would need to buy, and how big is reasonable ? to last a good while or as needed.I am totally electric right now including water well pump so when power down, I'm sunk!!
Most of the permanent generators we install down here in Tx are natural gas powered that are connected to the utility. As far as name brand try the Kohler and Generac websites. These sites will also give you the gas consumption rates for the different units. They have alot of good info on sizing. Being as you have all electric it will need to be a decent sized unit to back up the whole home. You could always choose to backup only certain circuits and appliances to bring the demand load down and in turn bring down the size of the gen as well. I've installed 17KW to 100KW(Big Custom Home) units on homes. An automatic transfer switch comes with most stand alone generators. These will sense the utility power drop below a certain voltage and tell the generator to start and will automatically switch to generator power. When the utility power comes back on it will automatically switch back over and stop the generator. Most generators will also test themselves weekly. You can set the time and day for this test. One thing I would recommend is the importance of maintenance. Most generators need to be serviced 2 times a year. I've seen homeowners who did not have a good service plan in place be stuck in the dark when the generator did not work or did not work for long.
Q:Automatic diesel generating set how much money?
The specific understanding of the price of the unit should know the basic information about the brand, configuration, power, etc..
Q:Ex:cars. But im not sure about buses, motorcycles, and airplanes. Please help me out.thanks
Subways, street cars, trains, elevators, escalators, moving sidewalks, scooters, Electric buses. Most locomotives run on electric motors but they have a massive diesel generator built in.
Q:Hi, i have a peugeot diesel conected to an 8kw alternator via a lay shaft engine 2275rpm alt 1500rpm at 2250rpm engine produces max torque 70lb ft, alt should only need 33lb ft. under heavy load engine allmost stalls. I think i need avr control? Can you help with advice and componants? Many thanks Andre
The alt is what RPM you will set the engine atMost 120-240 volt are 50 HRX and run at 1800or 3600 so if it's the 3600 back end your using the wrong engineUnless you use a pulley and belt to get the correct RPMMY 8K Diesel marine ONAN direct drive 3cyc runs at 1800 Rpm If your over loading the genset than no engine will workwhat is the load your pulling as 8K is 80 amps Max single 240V or 40 amp double 120V
Q:I am doing a research project and I can't find anything about there being power plants on Easter Island, Do they have to bring in batteries?
Electricity, also widely available, but expensive by world standards, is provided by diesel generators to 220v Chilean standard, using a 2-pin round plug. The USA constructed Hotel Hangaroa maintains its American standard 110v 2-pin flat plug.
