Q:Can any anyone help me with this. The generator is a brushless, air-cooled diesel generator without AVR. It is kinda old and it's made from Japan. The manufacturer is Yanmar.

All you need is a transformer to boost the low AC voltage up to 110 or 120 volts (for USA and Canada) or 220-240 for other countries. You need to know what voltage and current the generator does produce, and if it isn't specified on a plate on the generator, you will need a multimeter. You could probably get an inexpensive one at a hardware store. Then you need to hunt for a suitable transformer. It not only has to have the right input and output voltage ratings, but also the current rating that the generator can put out. Keep in mind that V1xA1 V2xA2. So, for example, if the generator puts out 60 volts at 10 amps, you would get 120 volts at 5 amps with a 1:2 coil ratio. Both input and output coils have to be rated for at least the amps in the equation, but the rating can be higher.

Q:How many watts would it take to run a small cabin with just basic lights, mini fridge, stove, maybe a small tv? I was thinking a 6000 watt diesel generator.would running it every day ruin it?

6000 watt would probably cover it, especially if you bought a gas stove. Generators are designed to run for long periods, but I would suggest you shut it down at night - it would probably be too loud to sleep anyway. Personally I would also tend to install batteries and an inverter and some small solar panels too - you could get away with a smaller generator to just charge the batteries but it would probably cost more overall.

Q:I am trying to use a marine deep cycle battery and power inverter to power a chest freezer in an ice cream truck. The issue is that the marine battery will drain in a few hours. I was told told that I could connect the inverter to the car battery as well as the marine battery and while the engine is running, the car battery would be charge the marine battery through the inverter. Can anyone tell me how this works and how I should do the wiring?thanks

Just run heavy gage wire from one battery to the other, pos to pos neg to neg, no big deal, however your alternator ain't gonna like working that hard and will go see Allah in a very short period of time, so a high output alt will be needed sooner rather than later, and with the price of gas and seeing the shape some of those ice cream trucks are in, I see a lot of melted ice cream in your future. maybe a small generator would be more cost effective. almost forgot. if the wattage output of your inverter is not enough to power a freezer,which take quite a bit, you'll smoke the motor out of your freezer in a matter of days if not hours. yea lots of melted ice cream

a 7kva generator isnt even that quiet. i know they say quiet but theres only so much you can do. why do you need a generator anyways? and yeah it probably would disturb the people in your apartment.

Q:I intend to buy Diesel Generator sets in USA but the problem is that the Generator sets available in USA are 50/60Hz /1800rpm, pf 1.0 , 277/480V whereas in my country the Frequency is 50Hz , Voltage is 220/380V and power factor is 0.8. What shall I do to convert the US spec's to what is my requirement.

It is a fairly easy adjustment to make for most of the equipment, as manufacturers know that many people need 50 Hz power. Mention your needs to the company you are buying the generators from. They should be happy to perform/quote a conversion for you.
