Q:Anyone have a list? What if the AC/Heating does not work?

C. I do not like them. I drive in various bad conditions, and I was well taught. I do not like the trend of taking control from the operator and putting it in machinery's hands (for lack of a better term). I believe that operators should be taught not just control, but also responsibility. Both are sadly lacking today. It is getting worse as cars become safer. Truth is, I feel they attempt to compensate for inadequate skills.

is your brake light also on in your instrument cluster? if both lights are on. then its not your abs system but your speed sensor that's bad. this is a common problem with dakota

It seems that you lost a brake line and your brakes are half gone now. Since the late 60's all autos went to a dual braking system to prevent complete brake failure if one brake line failed. When you push on the pedal a ball bearing resting in the center of the brake manifold valve will be pushed by the unexpected force of brake fluid in the direction of the leaky line. The ball bearing will then fall into the passage and stop the flow. The emergency light comes on also because the ball bearing made a connection for the light when it moved No it is not safe to drive this way. you have lost a lot of braking capability.Check the brake fluid level and add if needed. No tailgating for sure!

Q:P0700 P0871 P1776 what are they and do they relate to the same problem? The car runs good except once in a while when i slow down and then speed up it down shifts and stays that way until I stop and turn off the motor and restart then it is fine again . Can you inform me more about this ? Thanks

I agree with the other peoples description of the codes and also that this is not a good thing but you may also try to have the transmission completely flushed out and use only mopar fluid. I have seen this done in the past and it sometimes works because the fluid is dirty due to lack of servicing the unit.

Q:Ok, this morning the MIL light just came on. Yesterday I noticed that the air conditioner kept switching between economy and the button that looks like it has a curved arrow on it (just above the economy button, the one that is on when the AC is COLD), but didn‘t think anything of it. Well, after I noticed the light I started to check the car. I left it to idle, and noticed that the cooling system reservoir tank was boiling water. It was odd, because I looked at the gages in the car and neither the oil or water thermostats showed the temperature above normal. I‘m thinking maybe an issue with the thermostat, but I don‘t know what to think about the air going back and fourth between those two cycles. The air that came out in economy was REALLY hot, so it made me think a sensor was kicking the ac off for some reason. I‘m not a car person, and would love some advice. I‘m already looking into getting the car hooked up to one of those diagnostic tools. Thanks! :)

Q:Hi all,Toyota Avalon 97 (170K miles ) - 1 ownerSo, the ABS light and Check Engine light are on.The shop said that a few cylinders are misfiring and I need to replace all 6 spark plugs for about $200.Does this sound right ? Price about right for platinum spark plugs and labor if diagnosis included in price. I presume Calif. labor prices high. As for ABS light not for brake pads. For auto. braking system that applies brake to different wheels when conditions apply. Has to be checked separately different ecm controls it. They should have checked at same time.
