Q: My battery light on my car was on the other day and than my car would not start. We took in to a auto store to be read and charged. They couldn't not charge it. So we replaced it with a new battery. But my battery light is still on and will not go off.
I would get it looked at soon before your alternator kills your new battery. Get a voltmeter and check the voltage while the car is running both on the AC and DC setting or take it too Sears they will diagnose it for free.
Q: I have air bag light on for 4 days, my horn and rear wiper are working, in AutoZone cannot find the code,, I call Chrysler , my van do not have recall, what possible can be? clock spring, can my air bag go on after some time?? thank you
Its a very common problem in dodge products. No the air bag will not go off because of the light the light is telling you something is wrong with the system,It could be as simple as a defective seat belt or if you live in the salt belt as i do it can be a corroded crash sensor.these codes can be read but not by auto zone scantools you need to go to a shop that deals with airbags such as the dealer or a body shop. Dont worry the airbag wont deploy by itself, but you need it checked in case of a accident.
Q: Just curious. I see the auto flush toilets and urinals (red blinky light where the flush handle used to be) quite a bit nowadays. How does the auto flush mechanism get its power? Is there just a battery or two in there? I don‘t see any electric running to them.
There is also the effect that the IR needs to reflect and be picked up again. the body in the stall blocks the transmission, then it triggers the flush when the ray gets through again. It can be very disconcerting to little ones who are not used to it and not big enough to keep it from flushing at the wrong time.
Q: i recently installed a amp and sub in my car,,couple of days later the battery light is on.why is this???someone told me it cud be because i dont have a battery terminal on my battery on the postive post, and because my battery isnt grounded,,like sum 1 told me the negative battery post has to be grounded,,,mine was never grounded??? my amp is butso help me i dont really noe u my battery light is on??? i never listen to the sub and amp when the car isnt turned on,, and the battery and alternator are in good condition
It's because your new amp and sub are using more power than the alternator can supply, so the electrical system is sucking power out of the battery. This is not normal. The battery is only supposed to discharge when you use it to start the car or when you have the engine off and you're using accessories. Never ever while the engine is running. Otherwise, it is a storage device. There is a red idiot light that tells you when the battery is discharging rather than charging. Idiot lights are red if they indicate a problem that will force you to walk soon. You need an alternator with more output. You can buy one. See your local auto parts store. Take your checkbook. They're not cheap.
Q: i was driving my car and the engine cutted out .it didt start up again .there no sign on dash of any faultsdoes it mean ther engine has pack up .tryed jump starting but no luck
Dash warning lights are usually associated with the air pollution control sensors or charging system. So if no lights something else went out, probably some electrical devise like the ECU or crankshaft position sensor. Need to have a shop hook up to their scanner to see what went wrong.
Q: It came on early in the morning. My plan was to stop by my auto shop on the way home from work and get it checked out. On the way there, the car started to shut down (first the radio display, then the headlights, then the airbag light came on) until it finally died all together. I had the old battery and alternator checked out, both tested good but I swapped out the battery after cleaning the terminals on the old one and the car dying again soon after. After the new battery was installed, it is still giving me the Charging System Failure message, although everything in the car (headlights, cluster, dome light) are all on and significantly brighter. I‘ve looked at the electrical system fuses and none of them appear blown. The only thing I can think of is it is still the alternator or I have a short somewhere that is draining my battery. Any help would be appreciated.
Sounds like an alternator issue. You can take it off and have it tested at most auto parts stores.
Q: The manual says Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) comes on when there is an emission related malfunction. If it comes on and stayes on there is a malfunction in the engine system. Get thee to a VW dealer and get it fixed right away.Is this easy to fix myself?
Most of the check engine lights happened during a period when the injectors were clogging because the fuel was coming from low cost stations. The dealer got me at first for emissions control stuff but it became obvious over a period of 20,000 miles that it was fuel related. Cans of fuel additive to clean the injectors, then using only Chevron premium since has made that go away. Some dealers want to chemically flush the fuel system, and that works too. just expensive, like $100. I noticed the car was hard starting at first, and the code readout says Misfire Another was the day after a service when the light came on and they read the computer output to me - something about Mass air flow indicator. I think they broke something but it was about the same age others have had that problem. That was a couple hundred. The worst was after my sunroof drain plugged during a rainy week, and I didn't notice the water on the passenger side of the floor. Under that floor is the electronics for the automatic transmission. That was fifteen hundred dollars. A towel on the floor would have saved some big bucks there. The warning light started coming on about 4 days before the transmission started acting up. My blunder not taking the car to the dealer right away when the light came on. My experiences say if the light comes on, take it in. If it comes on again after they fix it, they didn't. Don't let them charge more than $50 to read the computer output. There are places out there that will read it for free if you will get it fixed there, and with the age of our cars, that is not a bad deal. I do like VW dealers for service though because they usually have seen someone else's car with the same problem before and will get to the solution faster. Good luck.
Q: I notice the car revs up 1 rpm when in park( that's the idle), but how to correct the problem. My reserch show i need a resister by the spark plug. Were do I get the resister from?
An auto parts store, but if the engine light is on you better NOT be driving it except maybe to be repaired. It is dangerous to your engine! Warning1 Warning!
Q: What does it mean when my ABS light comes on? How do i fix it? Thanks.
the abs system it self is very complex by it self. with out knowing where the problem lies i can not give you a real answer. how ever you can get the codes pulled and get a starting point there. after that it gets a lot easier.
Q: I am not talking about the oil light. How do I do it with the reset button? If I disconnect the battery I have to reset the clock, radio, etc.
Above is partly correct. You will need to fix what caused it to come on. You need an OBDII scan tool to check those codes. If you think or thought it was the fuel cap left loose, it will reset itself after 30 key cycles(Not 30 key on, key off trick either--has to have a drive cycle in between those key on key off trip) but yes, you will need to redo the clock, radio stations if you disconnect the battery. Would be quicker faster if you just went by a local auto parts store have them see what the code is then clear it. Most likely an oxygen sensor code
