There are a few different approaches you can use to acheive the desired effect. I've added custom lighting similar to what you're looking for to many of our restoration projects. I would begin by removing the front seats. 4 bolts and a little manuvering to get them out is worth the time saved trying to work around them. Next you'll need to find a suitable mounting location under the dash. Be very watchful of what you're considering running a screw into. In many vehicles the ducting is accessible under the dash. A hole here will cause the system to leak and due to expansion/contraction will eventually cause the LED light fixture to fall out. As far as getting power to the fixtures find your fuse box and install a new line. Most boxes will have 1 or 2 empty slots that you can use for accessories. If you don't have experience running a new line from a fuse box you can purchase a stacked connector at any auto parts store. This will allow you to pick a currently active fuse (radio for example) and piggyback off it's power source. This will also ensure the light fixtures only receive power with the ignition on. Custom lighting is just thatbe creative. A slow and steady approach is much better than haphazardly mounting crap under the dash and duct taping wires. Take your time, read the LED light manufacturers recommended voltage/amp levels and get to work. Hope this helps!

Q:I was told it might be the fuel cap or a hose thats leaking so I bought a fuel cap. How long would I know if the fuel cap was the problem or go to the next thing. FYI I‘m trying the cheaper fixes first.

You may need to have the computer reset and then see if the light comes on again. If you bought the cap at advance or autozone get them to reset the computer for free.

Q:In my 1986.5 Toyota Supra, the battery light is always on. The car starts, runs, and the alternator always charges the battery great I have brand new terminals. I am mechanically inclined but I have never run into this before I‘d some feedback maybe help me toss some ideas into the air on what it could be, also the wires look great and the voltage reads fine and the grounding and tightness of the wires are solid.

Could be just a weak battery, but If everything seams to be OK you could just have a short in the system or a bad warning light. I would take it to your local advance auto or autozone, they will test your alternator/battery for free. Sweet car, btw. I owned a '87.5 Supra turbo

Q:I cleaned my MAF sensor. But the SES light is still on, but is running Fine now, Will the light go off?

Just so you know what you are talking about the SES light, which is the Service Engine Soon light, does NOT throw any codes whatsoever. It comes on to tell you that your car should be getting an oil change or something along that line. The CEL, Check Engine Light throws codes when you have a problem. If you fixed the problem, then all you have to do is disconnect the negative battery cable for about a half hour and then put it back on. If the problem that caused the CEL to come on is fixed, the light will not come on when you start the car

Q:my car will start up fine and as long as you push the gas its ok. but sometimes when its at stop lights it will start to sputter and shut off. I have had fuel filter and air filter changed also had o2 sensor changed the man that works on my car said that was it but still does it.i am a single mom does anyone have a clue what it might be?please don‘t tell me to take it to a mechanic .small town one in town cant afford to keep pay him to fix it all till he figures it out.thanks

We really need to know make, model, and year. No car is designed to do that (I sure wouldn't buy one that stalled by design!) so we are looking for a weakness, and each model and year has its own weaknesses. I agree the mechanic is in the dark about the cause - O2 sensors don't have enough influence on mixture to cause idle trouble. You don't mention a check engine light, which makes me suspect it is older than 1996 - the year the modern OBDII monitoring system became mandatory. If it 1996 or later the EGR system becomes the top suspect because it is one of the few systems that can have powerful effect on the idle quality without turning on the check engine light. Regardless of the year, cleaning out the throttle body is an easy do-it-yourself job that can only improve the idle. Carburetor cleaners in a spray can work well - auto parts people can explain anything the directions on the can leaves unsaid, and you probably have friends who have done it.

Q:This morning my Highlander (has about 80,000 miles on it) started beeping at me ((the noise when you leave a door open, or don‘t have your seatbelt on). I looked and my gas light is on. Underneath it, it says Fuel Door. It‘s also now making a kind of rumbling bumping noise whenever I start or turn off the engine, and it stalled a bit when I tried to drive out of a parking lot.I have three quarters of a tank and I unscrewed/rescrewed the gas cap on and it still says it. The last time I touched the fuel door (before today) was last Thursday when my mom and I got gas together- and it‘s worked fine this entire week, so I know I didn‘t leave it unscrewed or damage it in any way. I haven‘t noticed that my gas has been getting used up any faster than normal, so I don‘t think it‘s leaking.Do I need to get to an auto repair shop ASAP? Can it wait a day? What‘s wrong with my car?

You can wait till you are sure that your fuel is low .
