Depends on the code, and just what the testing for that code revealed. Just because there is a code for, say, the air injection diverter valve doesn't mean the valve itself is bad-it could be wiring or an internal computer failure, also. Remember, those guys want to sell parts, and could care less if the parts they sell you actually fixes the problem. Henry Ford himself once stated that he would GIVE his cars away if he was guaranteed all the repairs and parts sales over the life of the car. Do yourself a favor and get it diagnosed by a professional. usually, that's cheaper than throwing parts at it until you hit the right one.

Q:ok, so i just bought a dual dvd player for my car. plugs in the cigarette lighter and works fine. But it says I can hook my video game system up to it. Where/how would I plug it in for power? Thanks

Always inflate tires to the recomended presure found on the tire itself. Ford Got into trouble with firestone tires by printing one thing in the owners manuel while the tires said something entirely different. Remember all the rolloevers that where blamed on Firestone blowouts. The courts ruled it was fords fault but publicly firestone was blamed. Trust the tire manufacturer over the motorcycle manufacturer.

Q:It is a 3.0l OHV flex-fuel vehicle.The dealership says its a fouled up injector but they wont show a printout of the computer reading so i cant be for sure. If there is anybody who has same problem or knows the answer I would really appreciate it!

most dealers don't have their diagnostic computers hooked to printers. I know we have 6 testers in teh shop with only 2 hooked to printers. But how will a printout show that's it's a fuel injector to you unless you know what to expect from the printout? Usually the time it stays open is either too long or too short but usually is found by trial and error replacement with pulling it out and swapping with another injector. I've done a home brew version of opening an injector to chek for spray pattern before but that car onlly showed a miss when first started and ran perfect at every other time. Since they have to back up their diagnostics, let them change it and then get on them if their diagnostics are wrong. A lot of service writers will instead explain what is going on to cause the light if asked nice enough.

Q:I purchased the car in March and it runs fine. In the past month I have noticed that occasionally the battery light comes on. It does not matter whether the lights or a/c are on or off. I tried reving the engine to see if that would turn it off and that does not seem to make a difference. After a minute or two it goes off and may not do it again for a week. The meter on the dash shows that the system is charging. I do not know the age of the battery as it is not marked, but the terminals are tight and do not have corrosion.

the reason its going off and on its telling you theres something wrong with the charging system i would have the battery and terminals checked the then i would check the altanator most places cant tell you your stuff is going bad when they run a test all the test dose it tell you if its bad or good but the light dont lie so the best way to check is to run your car at normal idal and turn all the lights on every thing with a volt meter place each end on the battery pos and neg side and see if your battery charging if your battery is putting out 12 or more volts when running then the altanator is charging your battery if it not i would go the cheapest way by replacing the battery if you problem still exsist then your altanator is bad those are the only two items that would make that light come on

Q:What would cause my cars electrical system to be strained when the engine is idling with the AC or heater on?

It's best if you test your alternator output by touching the battery terminals with an inexpensive hand held volt meter with the engine running. You should see between 13.5 - 14.2 volts if the alternator is charging properly. You forgot to list exactly what your volt meter is reading. One other thing to be aware of. Your replacement alternator may not have the same amp-rating as the original alternator. The more electrical systems you switch on your car, the more amp load is placed on the alternator. An auto electric shop, private mechanic or new car dealership should tell you for sure exactly how many amps under electrical load your alternator is putting out. I'll bet money something is not quite right with the alternator.

Q:I borrowed a friend's Toyota Highlander because I was having my car detailed. He has a very small garage so when I backed out the entire bumper came off and the grill cracked. I went to an auto body shop and had it fixed the same day. The guy did an excellent job but I noticed the left blinker was going off but I was too busy too check it. So I was coming home late and all of a sudden I noticed the lights weren't coming on. What should I doI'm going to take it to the toyota repair center.but I would like to have an idea of what it might be! I need help ASAP!!!!!

sounds like your switch is bad, or you burned up the fuses check them 1st

Q:The service air conditioner light on our 1991 Cadillac sedan deville 4.9 comes on when I turn the air conditioner on. The electronic climate control will not let me turn on the heat or the ac. It just defaults to economy. The ac at this point no longer blows cold air. I push the off button and eventually the light goes out. Do you have any thoughts on what may be causing this? Those auto climate control systems are often a real pain to properly diagnose and repair.and costly. To start with, you should check any fuses for the system to see if they are blown and have the a/c system checked for proper chargeundercharge or overcharge can cause the system to stop working. The main PCM computer is also involved in operating the HVAC system depending on engine load and throttle position, engine temp, etcso you should have it tested for trouble codes.local parts stores usually offer this as a free service. Any trouble codes might lead to better diagnosing. A shop would have to test to see which system sensors, relays or other areas are not getting power or malfunctioning or diagnose a problem with the main climate control unit. Parts and labor can get pretty spendy so many people opt to switch out the automatic climate controls for a manual control system if the car is worth keeping long term or alter the climate system to perform more manually.bypassing the computer controls with on-off switches mounted to the instrument panel or console mounting platform.

Q:Does the truck have a self diagnosis tool that can tell me the code for the check engine light? Like some Chrysler /Dodge products if you turn the key 3 times a code will appear on the dash. What about the GMC?

Did u put in fuel shortly before the light came on? I own 2 service centers the most common situation with Check Engine lights are because the fuel cap wasn't re-installed or not tightened. When you refuel make sure it clicks when putting back on. We don't charge for a Code Reading but a dealer will, don't go there. Go, like the others suggested, to Murray's, Auto-zone. If it is the fuel cap you re-install it correctly, the light will go off after a short drive. Good Luck.
