Q: My kitchen floor tile has a number dings or chips caused by something heavy falling on them. Is there a way to repair these without having to remove/replace the entire tile?
Sorry to hear that.. Any tile will top chip inexpensive or not.. Just some more easy than others.. This depends on the type of tile..I ve always had people touch them up w/ an enamel touch up that you repair appliances with.. This will depend on colors of course .. Finger nail polish is a tougher touch up product to help too.. Not a cure or a fix but a hide.. Should you get more tile in the future and want to avoid this get a pure porcelain were color go all the way thru and not a porcelain bodied tile there is a difference GL
Q: Real estate tiles where the tiles as Guangzhou? What are the consequences if the wall is not good?
Guangzhou tiles is the best, because there is no general problem, if the wall is not good to buy a permeable tiles, with a long time will change the pattern, it is difficult to see
Q: I am ready to tile a kitchen island, it has the rough shape of HOME PLATE, though not pointy. What is the best way to cover those odds angles effectively? Should I butt two edge tiles together? Also, I am not fond of the 16th inch spacing in tiles, I prefer 1/4 in gaps...any issues for the top of counter. The sides will be 1/8th gap.AdamDeridder,La
My hubby tried to tile ours...BIG mistake!! LOL Go to Home Depot and get help. LOL
Q: I have 12x12 field tile and a strip of accent that‘s about 2 high. Everything I‘ve read says that you want to have the accent at eye level, which makes sense to me. Judging for myself, it LOOKS best at eye level. If I place it at eye level, I wind up with a full 12x12 tile above it, or at least, a 12 space above it. So going down to the tub, I would have a 2 1/2 cut tile at the bottom, right above the tub.Everything I have read also says that you want to have the cut tiles at the top and bottom symmetrical.
Provided the tub is fairly level, start a full tile at the bottom and work up. Tile will look fine at a 5 or six foot level ( I prefer 5 ft.) Not every one has the same eye level so the strip will be fine. The tub surround will be a bit different too so what I suggest is measuring on the tub wall the tile heights and stand back and look at it. Use a pc of tape the approx width of the strip and tape it or draw it on the tub wall s prior to tiling. Will give you a better idea. Also take into account any fixtures you may put in such as a shampoo/soap shelf. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. I ve also have down 100s of tub surrounds. GL
Q: I have laminate over plywood right now in a bathroom. I‘d like to peel that off and lay tile down. Do I need the cement board or can I just put the tiles right on the plywood? It would save a lot of time and energy if I can just lay the tiles on the existing wood.
If the laminate isn't peeling you can tile right over that. Sand with coarse sandpaper....clean with TSP.....prime with oil-based kilz-it. Let that dry and start tiling. Don't use a premixed adhesive and grout all in one. It won't stand up to the moisture. Get the correct thinset for the tiles you will be using.
Q: I have this ceramic tile in my bathroom (on the wall, not the floor). There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, except it is an incredibly ugly color. I would like to paint it, rather than rip it all down just to put up more tile. Any suggestions?
If you go to the DIY store I would think you would get paint especially for the job. When you have a smooth surface to get paint or varnish to stick to it you need to give it a key (ie use sand paper to give it something to grip) This wouldnt work here as it would damage your tiles. Another thought is you get these transfers which are just squares a different colour that you can put on tiles maybe that would be worth a go.
Q: I am torn between using roof tile or slate roof? But my husband wanted roof tile more. You think it‘s good to use that?
Why 2 lengths?. you ought to have the means to get one length for 3m.the less joints the extra constructive.I take it the water is coming from a gutter larger up, in that case in good shape an appropriate bend the place it sheds onto the extension roof and in good shape a downpipe bracket to the wall, this could carry it inflexible at that end, then run your new downpipe for the period of to the place the extension downpipe is,disconnect this from the extension gutter, in good shape a hopper to the precise of the extension downpipe, it feels like a extensive funnel, you will ought to decrease the precise of the downpipe so the prevailing gutter runs into it besides as your new downpipe. fix the recent pipe to the fascia board with yet another bracket, that way you do no longer ought to repair it to the tiles .......good success
Q: The kitchen I want to order is a light cream/beige color. The tiles in my kitchen which would also be the backsplash are white. Does light cream and white work together? The counter top would be a grainy white and cream color. I wanted another countertop but it is not available. Should I paint the tiles? And if so how? Thanks
Painted tiles will never look as good as the original finish and will probably not wear well either, since there is white in your countertop, I would just leave the tiles as they are. You could remove some of the tiles and put in accent tiles that match your new color scheme to help pull it all together. The sell the grout knives and cutter you would need at the tile section of your larger hardware stores. Tape the surrounding tiles to avoid scratching when removing one.
Q: It‘s something I really want to do, I find myself longing for it often. Tile or ceramic, not sure yet. But, my house is 1485 square feet and I‘m wondering if anyone has a ball park estimate for what price range I‘m looking at! I know different variables like tile vs ceramic, etc, but just looking for a range if anyone can help. Thanks!
I advise using ceramic tile rather then regular tile. It costs a little more, but it's worth every penny. Also, you'll be really pleased in the end if you choose a mingle of darker earth tones. We removed all the carpet from our home and had ceramic tile put in. My spouse chose a gray-cement tile for the upstairs. I chose the mingled earth tones for the downstairs. Cleaning these tiles is like night and day. Everything shows up on the gray. Whereas the downstairs tiles have never appeared to be dirty even when they are sometimes. I think we paid between $1.50 and $1.75 per tile at an outlet store. Don't let people tell you that shouldn't buy tile that is no longer being produced, since if one breaks you won't be able to replace it. All we did was buy more than we needed. The extra box remains unused because none of our tiles have ever chipped or broken.
Q: please be descriptive.........
It depends on how well it was installed and what you hit it with. I've seen them crack from someone dropping a glass.
