- Sorry to hear that.. Any tile will top chip inexpensive or not.. Just some more easy than others.. This depends on the type of tile..I ve always had people touch them up w/ an enamel touch up that you repair appliances with.. This will depend on colors of course .. Finger nail polish is a tougher touch up product to help too.. Not a cure or a fix but a hide.. Should you get more tile in the future and want to avoid this get a pure porcelain were color go all the way thru and not a porcelain bodied tile there is a difference GL

- Penetrating sealer.. Although a water based product, a couple of coats will last years. Mist on( w/ a spray bottle) wipe it thoroughly over the tile and grout with a damp cloth. I dampen a cloth with the sealer. Let set for 10/15 minutes and wipe excess off amd dry. Don t let it puddle and dry. Repeat at least once , twice if possible. The grout must be set for a minimum of 3 days with all the excess grout has all cleaned off. I ve have only used 2 brands over the years Cerama Seal and Miricle 511. - I have read several of the answers to your question and I would like to offer the following: Take a piece of the tile to the store with you and look at the contrast or compliment. Look at the thickness of the tile compared to the hardwood. try to get the closet thickness so you do not have a large drop between the floors.Any one can offer decorator ideas but in the end you must like what you see. When you find something you like,buy a box or carton to look at in the area you will use it in and assemble the flooring to get a good idea of how it will look. this way you will either love or hate it but you won't make a mistake.

- Yes, you need to have a dry underlayment before reinstalling tile. However, plastic tile in the shower sounds like bad news. If the underlayment is simply plaster wallboard, then you need to replace the shower walls. You need special board designed for wet applications; ask at your home center. You should really redo the tile with ceramic. An alternative is to install a fiberglass shower stall. These are much less labor intensive. If the underlayment is water-rated, then apply tile cement and stick the thing back on. Grout? You may need to redo that. It comes in many colors so you can get a good match. However, if one tile has popped off, then others are probably ready to go, so consider redoing the shower with a more permanent solution.
- Q: Right now the wall is horrible paneling, I am drywalling the house, but I really want one wall tiled with granite tiles. Would it be better to do this on the paneling or drywall? Will it be too heavy and rip the wall down? Is there a safe way to do this?
- Yes you can. However, to simply apply tile to the wall as it is now will not work. You will need to install a cement backer board in place of the drywall. This backer backer board will need to be screwed into the wall studs with 2 1/2 - 3 screws. The seams will need to be taped as similar to drywall. There are many other options available to you other than tile to achieve the look you are wanting. For instance, a plaster compound can be applied to the wall and made to look like a block or stone wall. Stucco or Faux finishes may be a cheaper and easier alternative.
