- Well the obvious thing is to follow the instructions in the manual and hook up the 4 built in speakers. (How can you have built-in speakers and not hook them up?) Generally people buy an AV Receiver from companies like Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo and a 5.1 speaker set from a company that only makes speakers. Then you feed the video to the TV and the audio to the AV Receiver. As you pointed out - now the volume is NOT controlled by the TV. But I suggest you hook up BOTH the TV speakers and the 5.1 sound system. Use the TV speakers for casual TV watching. Fire up the AV Receiver for serious HD movie or DVD watching.

- They are not meant for home theater. Mipro makes commercial public address speakers and wireless mics - as the other answer said wouldn't you be better off looking for speakers that are designed for home theater?
- Q: Currently, I have a 2.1 speaker system for my computer. The speaker volume was significant, but I was not happy with the low volume of the subwoofer. So, I raised the volume of the speakers and the subwoofer also increased in volume, but now my normal speakers are too loud. So, I need to lower the volume of the speakers while keeping the subwoofer volume high. Right now, I put some plastic wrap over the speakers to reduce their noise but I was wondering if there is a better alternative. Also, If covering the speakers will harm them in anyway. Most importantly, if there is a way to keep the subwoofer volume high WITHOUT putting anything on the speakers cause they look kinda weird now. Btw, the subwoofer is at max volume and I've checked around the room and the front corner is the loudest location. Also, please don't tell me to buy anything.
- Covering the speakers is a bad idea. You are losing high frequency sound. Facing them away from you would cause the same problem. Covering the speakers also increases the work load of the transducers, but it is probably not a big deal. Sounds like your trying to get big bass out of a cheap 2.1 system. It's not going to happen. You would have to buy a part to reduce the volume on the speakers, and wire it in series with the sub. Not worth it.

- No that would be a series connection. To hook them up in parallel, connect both speakers black to the amp, and both speakers red to the amp.
