Q: I have portable speaker with no power source and i use them for my ipod. The speakers on my ipod are louder. Any idea how to make them louder?: connect you speakers to an amplifier or buy an ipod amplified docking gizmo.

Q: I plugged my speaker input (Left/Right) wires into a 110 volt plug. There was a very loud POP and the speaker no longer works. I took the speaker apart and it looks ok. What could be broken inside the speaker itself?: Why in hell would you plug the speaker into a power outlet? Obviously you blew all the solid state components in your speaker. Coil and cone may be ok but the electronics are fried.

Unless this is a serious installationseveral thousands of dollars. the trick is to try and reuse as much of the factory speaker wiring as possiblewhereever the best points may be. I have software to tell me these points and each car is differentso maybe you should stick with the back of the stereo where you know all the speaker wires are instead of tearing apart several body panels.

Q: I got a speaker for my PA system that is rated at Maximum Power of 50 Watts and a Power Handling of 25 Watts. The box said it needed an amp. I have a amp that I don't know much about other than it says 200 Watts. Does that mean it won't work for the speaker I purchased?: it will work but because the amp has more power than the speaker can handle it will blow the speaker if you turn it up much, the speaker should be rated for more or equal to the power output of the amp. the ohm rating of the amp should always be less than or equal to the speaker. 4ohm amp-4ohm or more speaker, 8ohm amp-8ohm or more speaker. never hook a speaker with less ohms than the amps rated ohms or you will blow the amp.8ohm amp + 4ohm speakerblown amp
