our bathroom sink smells of sunk so will this solution work?1. pour backing soda down the drain2.pour vinegar down to and let it bubble up3. let sit and then take hot bowling water a pour it down the drain? Now its says for kitchen sink but im wondering if it work for bathroom sink to?
I never hear about that. And to be honest don't make any sense because what ever thing you pour in the sink eventually will wash and you will have the same problem. I did maintenance in a hotels for many years. and in some hotels we did PM 2 or 3 times a year in the entire hotels rooms. One of the things we have to do was disassembling part of the plumbing under the sinks and clean the pipes and i noticed that the tip that make the flapper up and down was catching all the hair and and stuff that people drain through the sink for months and in your case that may be the problem. because i think 90% of the time in the houses nobody clean those pipes. Is very very nasty see that hair. But if you call the plumber it will cost and arm or a leg to pay this guy. the same thing hapen on the bath tubs drains but since you can not get under to clean the pipes. un-screw the water stoper use a electrician nose plaiers and pull the hair is stock on the drain.
My bathroom sink has a really, REALLY slow drain. Im not sure of what the parts are called so bare with me. I was able to take the bottom pipe, at that makes the u, at the bottom of the sink drain out and there was nothing there. I looked up, through the sink drain and that was clear. I then took a snake and put it into the wall and snaked the pipe as far as I could. I did get "gunk" and I thought that I cleared whatever was blocking the pipe creating the slow drain, but apparently I didnt. Right now Im just waiting for the sink to drain again to take that U off so I can snake the wall again. Thats all I can think of doing. Is there anything else for me to do, or is just keep snaking it my only option?
A slow sink drain is usually a hair block in the stopper arm but you are past that so the snake will work but I suspect an air lock or a full main drain line and that means either the main sewer line is blocked or the septic tank is full. If the snake does not solve the problem then you need a professional drain cleaning company.

i smell a bad smell form the drain of my sink... i believe the contractor who installed it forgot to block off one of the pipes or something. suggestions on what might be the cause of the bad smell?
i have that problem before. it is caused by bacteria that has formed a biofilm on the pipes. what i did to get rid of the smell is to pour half a gallon of vinegar in there and add some baking soda. leave it overnight and then wash it away.
I just remodeled my bathroom and the contracted crew installed a receptacle about 2 inches above my sink is that against code? From what I understand a receptacle has to be at least 18" from any water source. Can I keep the receptacle there or do I have to move it? The receptacle is GFCI and Im talking about Virginia, United States.
