If you really want to know, you can hire an appraiser. Usually, you can get an idea of what something is worth by visiting an appraisal at a fair or something. You can ger a rough estimate for like five dollars, or get a good estimate for like $40-50. If its in perfect condition it could be worth at least $200, but much less if it isn't.

yes you can use pvc and copper together. you need to install a threaded tee in the so you can connect the copper lin back, and to add a theaded end for the pvc pipe, then just use the recommended glue for the pvc, drains use pvc, water lines would be better using cpvc as they have a higher temperature and pressure rating. you can go to any hardware or building supply to get the materials. also, you may need to cut the pvc/cpvc to length from longer pieces so you should get a pvc cutter. for the larger diameters (above two inch) you can use a hack saw. just keep the cut as straight as possible. also, after making any cut, use either a knife blade, or sand paper to remove the sharp edges so the pieces join easier. make sure when you run the drain,you istall a p-trap and run the line slightly downhill from the sink end to the sewer or drain line where you tie it in. it helps prevent back-up and allows rthe water to drain completly and not sit in the line.

Your lavatory (wash basin) most likely has an overflow - a channel molded into the basin in case it's stoppered and the water's running and you walk away to answer the phone. The overflow can get pretty odoriferous and is not all that easy to clean. I use a test balloon (you have to block the drain below where the overflow enters) and fill it with a bleach/water solution. You could try bleach and a turkey baster. Use appropriate caution. If you've checked everything else, that's one last place to look.

Q:I would like to collect water from my roof during a rainstorm and use it to water my garden. I have been looking at rain barrels to locate at the base of my gutter downspouts to collect the water. They have a spigot at the bottom for a gravity fed water supply. My concern is how do I keep the water fresh and free of becoming a mosquito breeding ground? Wouldn't the stagnant water also cause mold and eventually a horrible smell?Please share your experience using rain barrels. Thank you.

You keep them covered, leaving only enough room for the water to enter. Without sunlight on the water, your algae growth is very, very slow. Yeah, every once in awhile, like once a summer, you may need to wash out the basin with diluted chlorine bleach.

You want quick or clean? Basic principle of cleaning: wet, warm soaking makes everything soft, so that you don't need so much scrubbing later on. Preparation: Don't stack gooey plates! Doubles your work! Food off first! Grease and sticky: rinse with dish brush and hot dribble of water, if you have a tank system (Otherwise bowl). Stack and arrange by size as you go. Silver too! I start with very shallow very hot water. Then I can pick up the silver even if the water's HOT. Dish brush keeps one hand almost dry, at least. After washing each group, I SAVE the soapy stuff. When I'm through with that group, THEN I rinse under a hot dribble, but all at once -- a whole HANDFUL of forks etc. and I catch the dribbing rinse water in the wash basin. Hot rinse helps stuff to dry. Since they're already sorted, that part's done TOO. Next, I go through the same process with glasses -altogether-- , plates, etc. Always SAVING the group till they're all done, and then catching the water. Water stays warm..level goes up..rinse is ALWAYS completely clean. Each time I'm working on a new group, the old group is draining. But as soon as it's washed, I clear the drainer, to make room for the new group. (Piled-high dishes , covering each other NEVER dry!) This works for us on a small counter top and a single chamber sink wih a small draining area. When ecoligists complained about my running water, I collected ALL of it: pre-wash, rinse, and wash, and RARELY was it even equivalent to the normal two bowls of wash and rinse. (But the dribble needs to be little more than a trickle) Usually less water and MUCH less detergent. (eco-positive!) Pots I usually do alone, but in a similar manner, pouring the first rinse water from the first to the second, etc. If it sounds complicated..well, you asked! If you want to get it done the fast way, just tell the kids the video starts when they're finished doing the dishes! They will give YOU the class about cutting every imaginable corner.
