Q: How about carpeting inside the house? How can you avoid mites?
Love often ventilated with high temperature and humidity, mites, cotton fabric and soil environment, 20 ~ 25 degrees, relative humidity 65% ~ 80%, very suitable for development and reproduction of the mite. Therefore, drying and ventilation are the best weapons to eliminate them. In order to completely prevent and cure mites damage in the family, we must often open doors and windows, adhere to ventilation, light transmission, especially in the use of air conditioning, we must pay attention to indoor ventilation, ventilation.
Q: I've already tried carpet cleaner, nail polish remover, and bleach. Its black nail polish on a light beige carpet. Please help! Thanks.
Sometimes you can just cut nail polish off carpet with scissors. Often the polish is just on the tips of the carpet fibers and you can just snip these right off. If you pull up while snipping, you're less likely to get a divot in the carpet. However, if you have used nail polish remover on the stain, it's possible you've worked the nail polish down into the carpet. If this is the case, I don't think there is much you can do to remove the nail polish. Good luck. -
Q: i dont have enough money to re-carpet my floor. for my room my dad says that it would cost about $500. but we dont have enough spare money for that kind of thing (we're saving for disney.) but i hate my carpet! it has stains all over it that i cant get out. and its a girly periwinkle color. he said that i can re-paint it. but i cant paint it the color i want because the carpet wont work with it. i dont know what to do. my room is SO tiny as it is and i dont like it very much already. my parents have the biggest room (obviously) my older brother has the second biggest, my little brother has the third (i could have had it but it has green walls and red carpet) and my older sisters room is the same size as my little brother's. what is an alternative to recarpeting my room so i dont have to pay as much??? is there ANY ideas, anything that might help is appretiated, thanks!!!
1] find out what is underneath it - don't rip up the carpet, find out first. 2] find a carpet company near you, that sells remnants. Measure your room exactly first - you can sometimes find a great deal! 3] get carpet steam cleaner or have professionally cleaned. 4] get an inexpensive area rug to put over carpet. 5] get a job, and buy your own carpet!
Q: paint on carpets
Pour some gasoline on it, and ignite it. It may remove more material than you want, but sacrifices have to be made...
Q: I have a 95 Chrysler Lebarron Convertible and it's in very good condition but the carpet needs to be replaced. Is this possible?
I would either take it to an auto upholstery shop, or do it myself. JCWhitney has carpets for many cars, check and see if they have one for your car. It should be molded to fit your floor pan. Do not buy a generic, one size fits all kit. The installation is easy if you can remove the front seats and a few trim panels.
Q: Refreshing my memory been a while so wondering how to lay carpet with a seam. Don't have enough carpet so have some extra carpet that looks the same that I need to use so wanting to lay the carpet with a seam so all the carpet will look as one.
Practice - practice - practice First, the carpet pieces all need the fibers going in the same direction....if you can't do that, it won't matter how skilled you are at seaming a carpet, the piles running different dirctions will stand out. Clean cuts - you need a clean cut along the seam, on BOTH pieces to get them to look good when they are joined. Two kinds of tape - adhesive, and 'carpet' tape (which needs a seaming iron). BEFORE the carpet is stretched for the room, the adjacent pieces of carpet need to be joined. This involves making a straight, clean cut on both edges - this cut should match identically. I achieve this by overlapping the two pieces, and using a straight edge, cut through both layers at once. (You need a VERY sharp blade). Next, apply the seaming tape to the underside of the carpet. I prefer to use the professional grade carpet tape, and I own all the necessary carpet tools to do this. If you do not own them, they can be rented from a local business that rents tools and equipment. I wouldnt make the investment in tools for one room of carpet. If you are using carpet tape, cut it to fit the length of the seam (actually allow it to extend beyond the ends of the seam, for a couple of inches) Plug in the seaming iron, allow it to heat up, and then place it UNDER the carpet, but ON the tape. As the seaming iron heats up the tape, slide it along the length of the seam, pulling the carpet edges together behind it, and press them firmly into the tape. (A roller is handy for this) Do NOT overlap the edges, do NOT allow them to pucker...this is why a good clean cut is so important. Allow the tape to cool, and then you can stretch the carpet and trim it out. Have Fun
Q: I have to enlarge a raised hearth into a living room. It is already a 12quot; wide x 57quot; rectangle, 8quot; high, into the room with the carpet stretched to tack strip to the old design. I have to make it 10quot; wider into the room to meet code for the fireplace. How should I cut the carpet so that it can be stretched to the new design? My instinct is to draw out the new design, plus the tile dimension, onto the carpet and razor cut along that pattern. Is this correct, or does anyone have a better suggestion? Thank you.
how long is the project going to take? if it is just going to be a few days and you plan on someone getting a stretcher and stretching the carpet back in the new place,I would just pull all the carpet back from one side of the wall, where the herth is, and then put it in and let the carpet guys go from there.... they will also have to take up the old tackwood and put new around the hearth so that would make it a lot easir for them...... if for some reason, like the room is to odd shaped you can't do it like that just allow a couple inches in from the measurements of the new hearth on the carpet and rough cut it...........
Q: So my bedroom is carpeted and there's some stains (dirt and pop mostly) but im trying to clean my room up a bit and id like to get the stands out any ideas?
carpet cleaner and a scrubber. it'll be clean and spotless. ( prefer the foam carpet cleaner)
Q: I have a beige carpet that is in need of a good cleaning.I'm looking along the lines of a product that I can spray on, leave vacuum up does a excellent job at eliminating odors/dirt.I am overwhelmed with the amount of products, not to mention I don't want to spend $20 on a product when I could get the job done with spending $6....thank you!
That's not going to cut it if you want a good cleaning. You can rent a carpet cleaner at your local supermarket but you're looking at about 50 bucks and it's back breaking work. Or for about 150 you can get a professional steam cleaner to come out with no effort on your part other than paying. Remember, there is no substitute for elbow grease.
Q: I recently purchased this couch. I kept the colors the same (purple and teal). However, the two smallest accent pillows aren't the same; they're just going to be the same teal color. I need a rug and window treatments to match. I love the idea of a print and I'd like to not have it all too matchy. Any wall decor ideas are appreciated as well. Thanks for all the suggestions!!
I love it! You have great taste. I'd go will some soft silk drapes that gently flow and maybe puddle on the floor in a cream, gray or tan, with a contrasting colored tassel to hold them back. If you want a printed drape, I'd still go silk and stick with a contemporary pattern. Rug options are limitless. When shopping for a rug, try to pull out a color in your other items. I find it is striking to have that be a small almost unnoticeable color in the rug, but it will pop because it is in another item. For example a printed rug that is predominantly brown, but has little hints of purple in it. Alone you might not notice the purple in the rug, but the pillows make it pop out. I'd go with abstract art given the contemporary nature of the couch... maybe a canvas giclee.
