Q:How to better manage the carpet warehouse?

It depends on what kind of carpet it is. Wool carpet is not suitably stored in cold and wet environment, and try not to put it in the sun. Because the moisture absorption of wool is relatively good, and the color fades fast in the sun. Try to keep the air circulation in the depositary. But one thing is sure that it needs to dry, ventilate, spray insect-resist agent.

Q:I am looking for a Persian area rug (8 x 10)--have seen some really nice all wool ones on OKorder. I have a limited budget and would like to stay around $250.00 Even with the shipping charge, they appear to be a good deal. Has anyone purchased one via OKorder--were you happy? If you find an 8 x 10 Persian rug for $250.00 on OKorder, you may be sure that it is not a handmade rug. It may be machine made, often Belgian, Persian-inspired, hand tufted or some other type of description but it will not be a genuine Persian hand knotted rug. It is easy to be fooled unless you read the description of the rug very carefully. I would suggest going to a knowledgeable dealer in your area and looking at his rugs and discussing them. They are often happy to help you.

Q:We bought a new white linoleum floor to which we added a couple of bathroom rugs. When I went to pick up the rugs to throw them in the wash, I noticed the floor had yellowed underneath the rug. The stains were same shape of the rugs that covered it. The floor was meant to look like white marble now it looks like yucky yellow snow. How I can get these stains off? Will putting the rugs back down cause it to yellow once again? Shouldn't there be a warning lable on these rugs!

Yep, the backing on the rugs gives off gasses as they oxidize. They are most likely gasses from plastic (hydrocarbon) or PVC (chlorides). It is possible that the discoloration to your floor is permanent. You can try putting some lemon juice on a small area and leave it there to dry. If you see a return to the original color, treat the rest. The other thing is a household ammonia test. Same thing (but open the windows and keep your head away from the product). Since you will now be testing acids and alkalies to see if you can reverse the problem, the only other thing to test is a solvent like white spirits. Do this one last. The rugs will continue to degrade but less than when new. You are right that there should be a warning on these rugs to not place them on certain surfaces but you know manufacturers, put it out to sell and then deny any liability.

Q:Soot from a fuel oil furnace has been tracked onto my carpet. I tried regular carpet cleaner but it left a big black circle around where I cleaned.

Have you tried oxy clean or some kind of de greaser? sometimes I mix clothes detergent and water and scrub the area and dab with a cloth to keep from spreading it. Then again i wash with oxy clean and then use some fabric softener with water to rinse it. Good luck.

Q:Besides vacuuming, how do you maintain white carpeting? Personally I have found that using a storebought steamer makes my carpets look dingier. A person I knew at one time told me about a dry cleaning method using some kind of powder. She told me she rented the equipment and it only cost about thirty dollars. I've researched this and don't have any idea where to go. Links to more info. would be helpful.

Q:how do you make a rug?

Depends on what kind of rug you want. You can go to a carpet store to buy a remnant, then purchase an easy finishing edge cording so it doesn't get ratty edges. Or you can do some quilting and attach it to a straw or rubber type mat. Try googling DIY Rugs and look at all the different types you can make and what the materials would cost. There are so many choices!

Q:is carpet suitable for home decoration?

Yes, but it's troublesome to clean up. it is ok without a child.

Q:If I find a carpet remnant I like at a carpet store, for example, will they cut it to the size I want or will I be stuck with whatever size they have?Will binding the remnant be sufficient to use as an area rug or will I need something else?

The carpet store should be able to cut it for you,maybe you pay a little extra.For the binding they charge you anyway.

Q:Are they really washable? does it mean machine washable or hand scrub washable? thanks

If they fit in the machine than i guess they are machine washable if not then hand scrub, i think it just means you can get them soaking wet and they wont be damaged so if you wanted to wash them you can, however way you do it
