Q: It looks like rust, or a burn on a cotton rug. Oxy clean and hydrogen peroxide won't touch it: oh, I thought you were talking about a toupee!

Q: Has anyone ever tried using oxyclean or any other cleaner that would work good or produce the same results as with the Rug Doctor cleaners?: Problem being! Most rug cleaning machines can't handle sud's. If oxyclean sud's up it can destroy the machine. If you are going to use it the full size that it is now, all you have to do is go to the fabric store and purchase rubber rug backing so it won't slip on the floor when stepped on. The rubber gripping is best sewn on either by machine or hand and try to stitch it throughout the back, not just along the edges or at the corners so that it won't rip when you launder it. Another way to use it is a rug is to purchase two sided carpet tape. The tape sticks to the floor and then you press the rug onto it holding it in place.

Now they say you have to do some fancy measuring and start in the middle of the floor. I have yet to find a square floor in any house or basement so....that's a bit silly. The reason they tell you to do that tho, is so you can make cuts at the walls instead of the middle. When you buy them there will be instructions and the seller will help. Sorry square means basically this. Measure 2 ft on a corner wall and 3 ft on the adjoining wall, between the two marks measure and it should be 5 ft. (this will be a triangle) My basement was off 2 1/2 inches. This just means you'll have some funky cuts at the end so put them where they won't be seen.
