Q:grout vs caulking in shower tile?
Grout is a hard material that stablizes the tile and is more appropriate when the tiles are going to be walked on, sat on or worked on (as in a counter) Caulk is a soft material that water seals cracks and has little or no wear endurance. In theory, you use grout on shower to make it match the appearance of tiles elsewhere in the room, but these days, that is often the only place tiles are used.
Q:Tile grout efflorescence?
You need to go to a regular tile shop and get the cleaner made for this. The cause of it can be many , for not mixing enough to washing it w/ to much water during grouting. Regular grout cleaner won t cut it. There are several brands that do this so going to XYZ tile place and asking for something they may not have that brand but a brand they use on occasion or a brand available to them. HD does carry a bottle called Remove by Hydroment . You may want to try that And you cannot just grout over it the grout will not adhere and stay, it doesn t have enough to grab onto. Any questions you can e mail me GL
Q:Need help with tiling my sunroom.?
Often Home-Depot ,Lowe's and others have a training season for doing tile , sheetrock , painting ... just check with your local store to see if they have these and when. I have gone to some and they are informative Yes, ceramic tile does go on cement very well
Q:Questions about laying slate tile?
Others might disagree, but here's what I suggest: 1. I take up at least a few rows of tile at a time, carefully stacking them in order. 2. Layout should always be done using a center line. There are options for the installation: - If you carefully snap or draw lines for each row on the Durorock and do not use spacers you can start wherever you want, for example against a far wall so that you don't work your way into a corner. - If you only use a center line and rely upon spacers, then you need to start at the center. Tiles tend to drift from each other slightly when you install using spacers, so if you start in the center and work in both directions the net drift toward the edge will be half as much as it would if you work from one edge all the way to the other. - I always draw lines for each row when I do a diagonal installation. I install the longest row first and the work away from it toward the opposite corners. 3. Once I mix a batch of thinset, I don't want to fuss much with tile thickness. So before I even lay the slate tiles out on the floor I sort them from thickest to thinnest. Individual tiles often vary in thickness from one corner to the other; others might have consistent thickness but be dished (not flat). These tiles are candidates to be cut for edge pieces, or they might not be worth using at all. Anyway, I layout the tiles from thickest on one side of the room to thinnest on the other and only need to butter a thin corner of that occasional irregular tile that is pretty enough to be worth the hassle. 4. Q:Ceramic tile or vynil tile for bathrooms?
Tile is definetly more astheticly pleasing to the eyes. However it is alot harder to keep clean in the bathrooms. I am on my 4th home...and have had both vynil and tile. Although vynil will not last as long, it is inexpensive to replace, warmer in your feet, and a heck of alot easier to keep clean.. I reccomend vynil over tile anyday.
Q:how to prepare divider for making cement tile?
The metal frame that divides the tile into different sections is made from strips of metal carefully bent and soldered into place. I have seen steel ones and also brass mold patterns. The key to it is to have the bottom of the strips perfectly flat and level so that when you pour in the liquid cement mix, each color stays in its own compartment. See the link below to see a mold pattern and also the finished tile from it. A lot of history and more photos are on the second link.
Q:How many tiles do I need?
You say 4x4 tiles but they rarely really are 4x4. They are usually 4 1/4 or 4 3/8. T Tile company's will figure 8 pcs per s/f and since ( given your figures) you have 28.45 s/f... 4098 divided by 144 (square inches pe s/f) you get 28.45 s/f. Times this by8 you get 227.6 tiles (228). Box size will tell you ut on average there is either 10 or 12 s/f per bow depending on the manufacturer.10% scrape age is a bit high since your dealing with so many tile per s/f. 30 s/f of is plenty, using your figures. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:Jane marble tiles how to join
1, Jane tiles are high-grade tiles, each place is only allowed to have a total dealer, that is, if someone agent, then you can not be a proxy. 2, Jane does not need the initial fee, but you need to be able to invest at least a 300 square store, pre-investment, it is still more than 600,000 it 3, wish business is booming, made a fortune!

Q:Pricing on tile and carpet?
Check out Home Depot or Lowes.............personal opinion - don't use carpet at all - it holds in so much dirt, dust, mites, smells, etc. Terrible for anyone with allergies. Just my opinion. The only place that has carpet in our house is the stairs and hallway...........put laminate wood flooring in the bedrooms and tile everywhere else. You can buy throw rugs that can be cleaned easier than carpeting. Best of luck!! Ü
