- Stone tiles and I recommend sealing twice before installing . should not need to be sealed again w/ the newer penetrating sealers. This make a great backsplash in looks and durability. I have several picts of some I ve done over the years if you need an idea of how it ll look. The grout sealed 72 hrs after grouting giving the stone actually 3 coats. - Q: I just remodeled a home and I am having a hard time cleaning the newly istalled tile. I mop and mop but the tile still looks dirty. I guess its all the powder and sand that was created by the remodeling. Am I supposed to use some type of acid or buffer?

- That's the most efficient way to do it. You use math to calculate positions, so the tiles are virtual. Unless you really need to draw tiles with boundaries, don't show them (like the original Warcraft game). Perform all of your calculations like movement and clicks-to-tile conversions based on pixel location. This is far more efficient that trying to do it with lots of actual Java subpanels merged together. But, note that it's a lot of work and you have to carefully work out your calculations to make sure your clicks are aligned correctly. One mistake I made with a hex map once was I used doubles and I casted them to integers too early, and the slight different (by losing percentage) threw all my calculations off slightly. The trick is to create your background image tiles so that they blend seamlessly together on all sides. That will take a LOT of effort.

- Both are good choices. Tile is more durable but its cold in the winter and harder on the feet. Laminate has a warmer feel and the pad gives it a little bit softer feel. Plus glass objects don't always break when you dop them on it. But it can be damaged a lot easier than tile. I am not saying its easily damaged, by no means, its very durable and will with stand 3 kids and 2 dogs. Laminate is also not recommended in high moister areas. As far as maintaining the floors, Laminate is easier just wipe it up a few times a month and your good to go. Tile needs the grout to be sealed and needs to be scrubbed when t gets real dirty.
- Q: can you tile an old brick fireplacegt;?would it look stupid?
- Are you still planning on using the fireplace? You will need to check with the manufacturer of the tile that it can withstand the heat. If you're tiling the exterior of the fireplace, make sure you select a corner bead for the exposed edge where the fireplace opening meets the wall plane. Installing tile over a fireplace is not a big deal if you're putting it on the wall plane. Whether it looks stupid or not depends on the type of tile you use and the overall color scheme. It could definitely work.

- Installing tile over concrete is the best way to install floor just make sure all the cracks are filled in with a ardex filler or even mortar smoothed out. As far as the old tile glue on just try to scrap it clean as best as possible and go from there. Also make sure u sweep and clean the area good free of dirt as best as possible.
