- Q:i had a pipe leak into my bedroom and now everything is torn apart so i am remodeling my room and i cant decide between wood or tile flooring. my dad said wood because it looks good and because our living room and theater room is tile and if my bedroom is tile it wouldnt make any sense. my mom says i should get tile because if my grandma spills her drink or eat in my room it wont ruin the tile and its easy to clean up but if wood it could be ruined with scratch marks or circle stain on the wood from the cup or drink she spills. so now i dont know which one to choose. also i would like to paint my room blue and wonder if you guys have any suggestions on the shade colors of blue any website or image of the shade color would be nice if i could view them. thank you in advance!

- American Oleans Satin Glo ( matte finish) and Satin Brights bright , shiny ) line had some bright green tiles . Also Interceramic and Dal Tile had a line of them. At one time Florida Tile had some too. Google all these manufactures and look at their lines. Each site will have a store locator to find a realtor neatest you by putting in your zip code. If your looking for something as an accent. Try to google Ocean Side Glass. They have a nice iridescent line of tile in greens also.. - Q:Tile setters? I paid someone to tile my bathroom floor using the 1 in hex tiles meshed together in 12 x 12 in pieces. Ive seen that type of tile done before and it each tile looks evenly spaced. The tiles he installed for me look like they were installed in 12 x 12 pieces as the perimeter of the meshed tiles has much wider grout lines than the interior. He says its normal and it happened because the floor is uneven but he installed the hardybacker himself so he should have leveled it.
- Plain and simple, the guy did not do a good job. It's rare for anyone to install tiles perfect, if you look at any tile job, and I don't care who did it, you are going to find imperfections, but thats just it, you have to look for them. To just casually look, you should see no problems at all. If you can live with it, get discount on the job your happy with if you hate it, have him rip them up and replace them at his expense If you can afford it and hate them. hire someone else to redo the floor and take the first guy to court in an attempt to recoup your money..if he couldn't do right the first time , I doubt he'll be able to do right if given a second chance.

I was watching HGTV last night..an episode of Design on a Dime..and they painted over tile in a guest house..in the small foyer area and around a fireplace. They used, I believe a new paint that was an epoxy-type paint...go to HGTV's website and look at Design on a Dime ...painting over tile...there should be great resources there for you..(and how-to's)....
