Q:i want to tile my house, i also want to pay less than a dollar per square foot for the materials. on top of that i want 16 tile... i know these deal exhist but i dont know where to look... please help
Try the Habitat for Humanity Restore. I have had real good luck picking up ceramic wall and floor tile for as little as $o.25 each!
Q:I redid my floor in november using the sticky tiles I purchased from Family Dollar. I wanted to take the tiles off. Is there a easy way to do this without spending lots of money?
Heating the tiles up will make for easy removal. But you cant just use a standard hair dryer. Rent a commercial heat gun. It ll heat the tile up for easy removal. Most people think a regular dryer will work, it wont. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q:Do I need to remove the existing 1 ceramic tiles in the shower stall, or can I apply the new 8 ceramic tiles right on top of the old ones? The sides are drywall, but the floor of the stall has 1 tiles that look like a pain to remove.
A sublayer of tiles will be a very poor foundation for the new layer. In short, don't ever try to find shortcuts in construction. They never work. Always go ahead and do the work properly.
Q:We just installed laminate wood floors tiles in our open space living/kitchen room. We put ceramic tiles in the kitchen area the wood laminate in the living area. Due to time constraints we had to get the laminate installed first before the tiles. Our tiler was supposed to put something between the wood the tiles but didn‘t. He‘s not being very cooperative about completing this, so we are trying to do something ourselves. What can we put there, so that the grout stops coming apart where the tiles laminate wood meet? Thanks.
You need a T molding. Sold to match your laminate. Buy it at the same place you got the laminate.
Q:How can you cover ugly wall tiles??
you can get proper tile paint or if your really handy you can get some transfers to stick on
Q:newly installed ceramic tiles did not adhere to the tile adhesive
Installing Tile can be a beautiful thing, but it can also be a terrible mess if not done correctly. A few things that could cause this is: Did you use mastic(glue) or thinset(concrete)? If you used Mastic that is not a good thing for an entire install on a floor, it should only be used as a repair or on small tile on a wall as it never truely dries gue to the outsite of the glue crusts and the center of the tile stays wet. If you used thinset was it mixed properly as that can be an issue due to coverage and set time. Did the back of the tile have dust on them from the box (the mill making these is dusty and sometimes tiles need to be cleaned before install) was the surface properly preped before you started? It needs to be a clean porus surface, if it is sealed or painted the tiles will not stick. Those are the most common issues, I hope this helps
Q:I have several boxes of wall tile and I would like to use some on a floor. Is this okay? What is the difference?
Don't do this under any circumstances. Wall tiles are much thinner and are designed for wall use only. When a floor tile is designed they are much thicker and have also been stressed to take a weight. As other contributors have said wall tiles generally have a smooth finish and are therefore slippy whereas wall tiles will always have some form of anti-slip format. I don't know where you got your wall tiles but most shops will be happy to take them back and exchange them for other products such as floor tiles.
Q:Flatness of the thickness of the wall and how the number of pounds
7 test slip resistance This may be most of the staff of the tile shop will show you, so you directly on the tiles surface trample, feel slippery slip, but we think about what circumstances will be slipped on the floor tiles? Should be when there is water, some brick surface will be a very slippery water, will fall, so the test should be in the tiles surface sprinkle some water to simulate the real situation, and must personally step on the brick test , Some brick water will be more slippery, and some tiles will be more waterproof after the water, recommend this type. 8 other details In the process of selecting the tiles I suggest that we must go to the store to see, color and quality is difficult to see from the Internet, you can go to the store selected models, and then to the Internet to buy. No matter from which channel to buy, and businesses must be sure who is good delivery, is sent to the downstairs or sent to the home, is not free replenishment replacement. Because tiles such building materials is really very heavy, with their own simply can not move home. But also in the handling process is very likely to cause damage to the tiles, it is best to let the business to your handling, so that a problem can find him, if you find the construction team workers to move you, that tiles in the handling process is damaged, the basic It is your own money to replenish the goods.
Q:My bathroom in my new house has the ugliest green tile halfway up the wall and then a different shade of green tile on the floor. My husband I have a little experierience with fixing stuff up, but this one has us puzzled. We want to tear the tile down and put up drywall. Then we‘d like to carpet the floor. We haven‘t got the nerve yet cause we don‘t know what to expect behind those tiles on the wall. Got ANY suggestions in my little dilemma???
Well, if you have a little experience, all u have to do is chisel off the tile, then just cut out the wall behind the tile too because it is either cement board, or it will have way too much glue behind it to even bother getting it all off. After the tile is gone, just cut a nice straight line and replace the wall behind the tile. You should more than likely need 1/2 inch drywall depending on the thickness or your original wall. Its not hard at all to do, so just grab a claw hammer and a chisel and have at it. The removal should only take an hour or 2 depending on the size of the room, and from there its all downhill. If you need help on doing the actual drywall, drop me a email and i'd be glad to help! Have at it, just make sure when knocking out the old wall not to hit any pipes!! Hope this helped! Good luck with your project!!!
Q:Anyone have any experience with using glass mosaic tile as the kitchen counter material (not just as the backsplash)? This would be for a lightly used area of my kitchen counter by the sink - not the primary work area. Would love to hear any pros and cons. Thanks!
I just have to say this. I'm in the tile business and sell glass tiles on a daily basis. I might reccomend them for a light duty bathroom counter, but I most certainly woul NOT reccommend them for Kitchen counter use. They will withstand the heat just fine, that isnt the problem. They WILL scratch and the grout maintenance involved (even if sealed) would be horrendous. Save them for the backsplash use. Good Luck. Ballzie
