Q: I have a 2005 Impala and it has been acting funny. Some morning the heat takes about 20 minutes to start working. The air conditoner has not came on once. The gage also takes awhile to start working and when it does it goes pass the halfway mark.I even notice when im sitting at a red light, i can feel the engine shaking a little. I have a appt to get it check and put on the machine tomorrow. I just want to go there with an idea of what the problem could be. Could this be a thermostat or water pump problem???? The capacity of the water pump is not less than 25% of the work pump. If the work pump, spare pump, repair pump model is the same, the work pump 4 units, repair pump at least 1 units, 5 pumps, repair pumps need 2 units

Q: there is a knocking noise coming from the water pump pulley..i think, the pulley also wiggles when its running. If that's what is wrong, how long do i have to fix it and is it hard and expensive to fix?: No it isn't hard to fix, first loosen the little bolts on the water pump pulley, then take the belt off, then unbolt the water pump and take pulley off old pump, clean off old seal from block, put on new seal, you may have to use gasket maker or silicone, install new pump, and bolt pulley on to new pump, then reinstall belt. Oh I forgot you will have to drain the antifreeze before you start, and refill it after you are done! Start the car and let it warm up and look for leaks, if you see a leak you didn't get it sealed properly and will have to repeat the sealing process and antifreeze. Takes an hour or so to do!

Q: how do I know my water pump failed. 98 mustang V6 started to leak coolant from the front lower part of the the engine. How do I know for sure my pump is bad? Did refill and kept on leaking as I manage to get home. Little help please!: There is a weep hole on water pumps that will leak coolant when the pump goes bad. The housing could be cracked or there could be a leak in the gasket. When it's running, see if you can see where the coolant is coming from.

The intake and output may be reversed or your electrical connection my be opposite what it is supposed to be. Take of the output side and put your finger over it. It should be creating pressure and blow on your finger. If that is not the problem check to see if you have a water filter between the tank and the pump. That my be clogged.

Lift pump before pumping water pump, first open the pump and then open the outlet valve, and if there is no pressure, it is time to leave, the sealing performance is not good, check where leakage, and perhaps your pump is broken

Q: Is the pump lift horizontal or vertical?: The vertical height from the center line of the pump impeller to the surface of the water source

Q: Im replacing the water pump on my cougar but i ran into a snag. I got the pump unbolted but to take it off, i need to unbolt a bracket that goes behind the power steering pump pulley. I cant figure out how to get that pulley off to take off the bracket. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Q: My water pump is broken and so far we can't get the fan off so we need instructions.: the fan and fan clutch are bolted to the water pump pully. you have to hold the pully in place and break the torque off of the fan clutch nut. easiest way is to go down to an autozone or wherever and rent a fan clutch removal tool. it'll have a wrench for the nut, and also a large fork that goes over the bolts on the pully.
