Q:As a fact; I must remove the timing belt in order to remove both camshaft sprockets, then the metal timing belt cover which cover partially the water pump.My main question: Do I have to lift the engine and remove the two water pump studs- Which normally holding the right engine mounting. And where I can rent ,or buy a camshaft locking tool with low price
You can just jack up the motor from the oil pan with a floor jack with a piece of wood instead of removing the studs, just needs to go up a inch to get the bracket and water pump off.
Q:If the water pump does not get water to pump, will it be burnt out? If so, then can it be fixed? And if it doesnt get water to pump, what exactly happens to it?
Anything can be fixed. The question is: is it cheaper to repair or replace the water pump? Keep in mind that water through a pump cools it. Without this water, the pump will overheat and eventually fail.
Q:as i asked before in my question what needs to be fixed when a water pump goes bad. so finally it went bad today the car leaked all coolant and for some reason all the blades on the fan broke and the battery light came on. which is connected to the alternator belt so thats not the problem. so now does anybody have any idea how much it would cost to fix and by what i know it needs a new belt for water pump and new fan and water pump etc. taking it to mechanic monday but wanna get an estimate first from u people. any ideass thanks
Mate you need to have a look under the thermastat housing on the front of the block remove the fresh air pick up and use a small mirror and light they can warp because they are plastic. You will notice a crusty stain. (This has happened to me) also the reservoir which you fill up can leak from small high pressues leaks to also dont over fill these bad boys as they dont have a over flow. best to get a mechanic to pressure test the cooling system to idenify the leak. as they are expensive to repair once they are really broken.
Q:We lost power during the hurricane, we have well water. the power went out and we lost water also, what are the procedures to bleed and restart a goulds pumps c48a93a06 water pump?
1. you are going to need at least a couple gallons of water in a bucket to re-prime. 2. look for a plug at the top of the pump and remove it. 3. pour water into the plug opening, filling up the pump as much as you can. 4. put plug back in so at least one thread is grabbing. by doing this it will allow air to escape and won't be spraying water everywhere. it is also a good idea to keep your hand on the plug. 5. turn on electricity to pump. 6. when you start to notice pressure re-gaining tighten up the plug so it does not drip. It is also a good idea to have an outside tap on to get air out of the lines. Another thing is, it is a good idea to shut off water to toilets and washing machines before re-starting pump because small debris have a habit of clogging them up. When your pressure is back, drain your toilet and cold water line to your washing machine, flushing all the stuff out until you see nice clear water. Hope I helped and good luck.
Q:how do you change the water pump
Replacing the water pump requires removing the timing belt because it is timing belt driven, so the timing belt should be changed at the same time. Standard practice is to replace the water pump when the belt is changed to avoid duplicate labor later.
Q:I just got a new boat with a diesel engine and I don't understand why there is a coolant tank as well as a water pump? I think the water pump goes to the heat exchanger but what actually cools the motor - how does this stuff work?
Coolant can leak from plenty of areas. Without figuring out what style of motor you've got, can handiest bet. Hopefully it's not a cracked cylinder head. But if you'll see spraying out you have got to convey the automobile to a mechanic. Obviously you're going to run out of coolant quickly even though you preserve topping it off. And it is going to occur on the incorrect time and situation. The leak price will broaden because the motor heats up and expands.
Q:I am having overheating issues with my 1993 3.4L V6 Camaro,Once I start the car with no AC or Heat on while at idle or driving the car will overheat, almost to the red line. When I get onto the highway it will slowly drop all the way down to operating tempeture. Also if I turn on either the AC or Heat while driving around town the car will not overheat. On my way home I turned everything off and let the car overheating, when I got home I opened the hood and the fans are going but still overheating. Also the major sympton is that the water pump will click on and off when I have AC blowing. It will click on and off every 10 seconds or so.New waterpump?
I should change the water pump. The vains or fins in the housing are probably worn. You will see that they are when you pull off and flip it over. Those fins is what keeps the water moving......Steve
Q:I have a 1998 pontiac grand prix yesterday I started leaking anti-freeze so we ( me, dad, bf) checked and came up w/ h2o pump, all the classic signs. so $51 latter started her up and wouldnt you know the same thing. anyone have any tips????
<Need a little more info. First, you say classic signs. Does that mean the leak was seen coming directly from the water pump? Through the hub or around the edges? When you replaced the pump, did you THOROUGHLY remove the old gasket and clean the pump seat completely? Use a new gasket? Is it leaking in the exact same way? Those are the main points for stopping a water pump leak. Otherwise, it might be hoses, a crack in the pump seat, a leaking head gasket or thermostat housing gasket. But, if you're sure it was the pump itself, take it back off, re-clean the seat and try a new gasket.
Q:was putting a water pump on, and i tight too much on 2 bolts, and they broke. is it anyway to fix it ?? is it going to cost alot in labor ??
Remove the water pump. Then you should be able to grab whats left of the bolts with a pair of vise grips and turn them out.
Q:i have a significant stream of water running out of the coolant return side of the engine under the coolant pipe on a 1997 caravan i will lose a gallon and then it stops until the engine heats up and of course more comes out with expansion
1st off, without proper diagnostics you cannot get a proper repair...with that being said... 2nd, I would definately say you have a water pump problem, but all is not lost. Keep 2-3 gallons of water in the back and you'll be fine, 3rd, take it to a repair shop that has the experience necessary to repair your problem. the 3.0 v6's are not easy to work on. To replace the water pump you almost need to take the engine out( at least that would be easier) along with the r/f tire. Best way is to put the vehicle on a lift. My advice...take to a shop. Good luck and hope this helps
