- I've Or to actually wire the 120 volt ones: 1) Turn off power. 2) Remove all the smoke detector's (S/D's) from the wiring harness that they use to pick up power. This is done by pinching the sides of the pig-tail and pull. You will notice that there are three wires on this pig-tail: a) black b) white c) yellow the black picks up the power. the white is the neutral the yellow is the communicator 3) This yellow wire needs to be ran between ALL of the S/D's. The only legal way to do this is to run either a 14-3 with ground or 12-3 with ground, depending on what amperage the S/D's are ran on. (14 wire on a 15 amp, 12 wire on a 20 amp) Once you have this wire ran, you will need to remove the existing power feed from the equation. 4) Reattach ALL of the S/D's to the newly ran wire: a) blacks to blacks b) whites to whites c) yellows to reds d) bare wires to bare wires DO NOT ATTACH ANY OF THE BARE WIRES TO THE YELLOW!! Cap off the existing black and white separately using the wire nuts that you bought when you purchased the wire. (Did I forget to mention that? oops) 5) Restore power test. - I have been riding for 17 years now. I have actually gone without a helmet twice during those 17 years. Guess what? It actually sucks riding without a full face helmet. I find that without a helmet, the roar of the wind is extremely loud and takes away from my enjoyment of the road. I rented this harley in Hawaii and rode it around the island. I wasn't expecting to be able to rent a bike, so I didn't bring my helmet. After about 15 minutes, I pulled into a grocery store and bought some earplugs. That wind in your hair feeling? Hurts after 30 minutes. Picking bugs out of your teeth? Those suckers hurt when they hit your bare cheek at 70 MPH. (Junebugs*shudder*) A full face helmet is comfortable and cool if you get it fit properly. It's also far safer. In case you were wondering, it doesn't constrain your vision except for your upper and lower peripheral vision. If you're looking at birds or airplanes you should be watching the road!

- Q:This is the main cast iron line leading from a house to the main sewer line that runs along the street. Some kids had dumped a bunch of rocks and gravel down the cleanout hole, and the main sewer line was now clogged underneath a concrete slab. I broke open the concrete slab and dug down to the sewer line where it's clogged. It's sort of around a p-trap. I used an O/A torch to cut open the metal line and am in the process of removing the solid obstructions. How do I seal up the hole that I've made in the sewer pipe. The hole is about the size of my hand, the pipe is 4. The pipe was probably layed 50-75 years ago, and is probably some sort of cast. I have access to a 220 outlet nearby and have a 220 stick welder. What kind of rod should I use if I weld it? Could I use some sort of epoxy and glue a patch of metal over the hole? This pipe is 3' below ground level, and there is not alot of room to manipulate things in there, it also smells like sewage.
- You can buy a brush for cleaning them from any home hardware store. Be careful though, ducting is easy to tear. If you are too worried about it, pull out the dryer and remove the ducting so you can see if it is full or not. The best way to prevent a fire in this situation it to let the dry go through the entire cool down cycle, if your dryer has a cool down cycle. All this does is push cool air through the ducting so the lint is cooler down before the dryer stops.
