The joints (both the outside of the pipe and the inside of the socket you are putting together) need to be clean and free of any dirt or oils. Make sure your cuts on the pipe are square, this gives you the maximum amount of surface contact for the joint. The use of a primer will help the success of the joint. Apply a generous amount of glue to the outside of the pipe AND the inside of the socket. Press the two pieces together until the pipe has seated against the stop iin the socket. Twist the pieces at least 1/2 turn to spread the glue and help remove any air bubbles. Hold pressure on the joint for at least 1 minute. Do not do any additional work on the pipe with the joint that may cause the joint to pull apart for at least 15 minutes.
